It does have a link to MS' tech guarantee site at the bottom. I walked through the order process, and all I could get it to come up with was Vista Home Basic. No extra cost, which is nice, but I see no value in running Home Basic. Seems like a slightly more bloated version of XP.

This is a good deal. I bought one from Office Depot when they had their $70 MIR offer. I am still waiting for my rebate. You get this for $40 with no rebate hassel.

Closest CompUSA to me is 2 hours drive away, so no way I'd go to the store for this, and (big surprise!!) it's sold out for delivery. Do they EVER offer more than a handful for delivery??? Cuz it always seems it's sold out for delivery on hot deals!!!

Hopefully they'll get some in later in the week, so I can order a couple.

Dont bother with circuitcity by phone for PM (just tried them) because they will not pricematch unless is available online. They dont care if its instock instore. losers.

Norfolk, VA location, but they are going fast several people in line were also buying it.

PM is not even worth the hassle to save like $5.00 at CC or Office Depot or any of those.

I don't know when was the last time i purchased a computer part or software without a rebate, it was refreshing to not have to mail anything in for rebate.

Just like i waited a year till i used XP, i will wait a year till i consider putting Vista on my machine.

You might wait a year to put on Vista but don't wait to get the upgrade for free paying only S&H of 9.99. It's good for retail (and maybe OEM) purchases of XP from Oct 26,2006 to sometime in Feb 2007. Home XP geys you Vista Home basic. Win XP Pro gets you Vista Business, Win XP MCE gets you the Vista Home Premium.

I doubt any copy of XP is going to give you a free upgrade to Vista Ultimate. XP Pro and MCE will get you Home Premium max, probably.

Um- CC wont do it- Staples did -and lets see- drive 30min each way to compusa or get one shipped for free for $5 less by phone- wow-what a hassle! :roll:

I did the 110% pricematch with Staples on the phone. The CSR was very nice and she had me on hold while she called the Compusa store in my area to verify stock. She also asked me how many did I want (3 max). I got two for 76.00 with taxes, shipped with the 110%. Now I just have to send off for my free upgrades.

Only shows for XP Home and XP Pro. I don't see a spot for the MCE upgrade but I've heard MCE upgrades to Vista Home Preminum. AFAIK there is no upgrade to Ultimate.
The three XP's have upgrades to three versions of Vista. Ultimate is a fourth Vista version.

I ordered three, but after review, they bumped my order down to one! They told me that everybody who ordered more than one will also get their orders bumped down to one piece.

yeah- thats very true- but the likelyhood seems low as home has been on sale for 49 and 39 many times before, but pro never was...

I pulled the trigger and picked up a copy at my local CompUSA. It is a good deal. I may have to put together a system for a friend in a couple of months. He will have a very tight budget.

There may be more "sales" on WinXP in the coming months in preparation for the Windows Vista release. Depending on the price, I may pickup a few more copies.
