I can't get the montior after going to CompUSA last night! The sales Rep. and manager didn't know what do with it, and rejected me out loud. I send CompUSA an e-mail complaint. I wonder what they will do about it. um.......

re: beyonddc

Did you bring a printout of the sale in to the store? That's what I did. I think if I hadn't, then they would have blown me off too.

re: rehany

I wouldn't say this a great monitor. It's just an inexspensive soultion for a low end system. $50 for a new monitor and fairly decent speakers and a built in mic. SUre for a little more you might find a bigger monitor, but if space is an issue and/or you want to save a couple bucks on speakers...

Not something I'd use on a high end system, certainly not state of the art art or anything, but a good deal for a kid's PC or as in my case, and old system being given a second life for a low end business use.

Did you tell them to check the website for themselves, and give them the URL of the ad?

Yes, tell the manager to check the website. I did this last year (remember the Intel wireless mouse + base station for $20 and $30 rebate?) and the manager and his assistant took the rebate to his office where he checked the website. Afterwards, he OK'd it without any problems.

I showed the AD and everything, they just wouldn't take it! I send an e-mail to them for complaint. I doubt they will respond though. Pissed me off big time. Is there anywhere I can complaint on the web? haha... like PC Magazine or PC World? I thought I saw they have columns for complaint, I just couldn't find the complaint e-mail adress on their homepage. um...

Just showing the ad may not be enough, after all you could have forged it (unlikely). You should ask them to load up the compusa webpage themselves and show them where to click on the ads to get this page. If he still won't ask him if he is the overall store manager, if he is, get the name and number of HIS boss (regional manager). Its up to you how much trouble you want to go to to get this, but if you keep trying I'm sure they will let you. sometimes other managers are on duty, like managers from other departments who don't know enough, you should try and get the head manager of the store to talk to if you haven't already.

Actually, you need to complain to your local BBB and the FTC. Not honoring advertised prices? That's criminal.

I got this monitor from a previous staples deal (with a PM and the rebate, it was actually free)....The monitor's picture is pretty good for a 15" monitor.

Another guy here mentioned that he got it to go at 85 Hz.....how did you manage that? I can't find the specific drivers for this monitor anywhere, and on my Win2K system, it's locked at 65 with no other options.

if you're in the cali-nev-az area (maybe more states) the regional mgr is Randy Benson, he can be reached at 1-888-218-7538(this is the standard customer service number afaik, but he can be reached via it).. I had to call him once while standing in line at my local compusa after they wouldnt honor their pricematch policy.. He didnt give me the answers I wanted to hear so I insisted he let me talk to his supervisor (one of the vp's) at which point he told me they didnt have phones.. what kind of logic is that?! He eventually decided they needed to honor the pricematch..

That was me that mentioned running it at 85hz.

Funny you should mention it, now I'm running at 84hz.

I'm running win 98 with an old matrox mystique PCI card.
When I first hooked up the monitor I had it at 1024 *768 and it was running at 60hz. The specs for the monitor claim it does 85 at 800*600, so I just changed it to that resolution and it took at 85 hz.

Yesterday I installed a network card which must have caused a conflict or something. I had trouble rebooting and after playing around for a while I was able to get the thing working. Only problem was that it changed my video settings. For some reason the video would only allow me to use low resolutions. I re-installed the video card drivers and after that, I was only getting 60hz at any resolution.

So, I installed the matrox power desk utility and from that I was able to get up to 85hz. There were no drivers with the monitor, so I selected some other compaq monitor models from the available list in the matrox powerdesk. It seems to be working, so I'll just stick with the 84hz.

Man that was a pain. it took 45 minutes to get one monitor. They took forever looking it up and refused to take my printout to look at the url. They finally found it then the manager had to call people to verify the validity etc.. then they refused to let me buy 2 (different hosueholds, different people, etc) so 45 minutes later I did mange to get one at least. Oh well.

I am returning the 15" I got from CompUSA. Staples is offering $100 off the FS740 17" flat monitor, in store only. This monitor also qualifies for the Compaq $150 rebate and is $50 cheaper than CompUSA. This means an FS740 is $350 - $100 instant - $150 MIR = $100 for a much nicer monitor.

Got a link to the $150 rebate? Thanks Would the Staples $40 off $200 code work at the B&M?
$350-40-100-150=$60! Wow!

Edit: Not in stock at B &M Staples for me. So I bopped over to Compusa and nailed a $49 one.
They rang it up as $324, and then the fun started. I don't know what I enjoy more, saving $250 or the look on their face when I do! Go Anandtech!!! Also lots ofmonitors still showing in stock at stores, so check availability on the compusa web site before going. Last day! (<Looks like there's a new rebate in force till July>)

Yikes! Whatahassle!! NO UPC sticker on the box, somebody cut it off! Right back to compubleep and they had another one, but no sticker on that one either. They figured I didn't take both so they refunded my card. Found another one, with a upc sticker, at another store by phone, but am running out of wind.
