CompUSA Lexar CF-64mb 8x $64 after rebate???

The CompUSA ad that came with my newspaper today lists the Lexar CompactFlash cards at:

64MB 8x:

$199.99 store price
- $50.00 instant rebate
- $85.99 Mfr. mail-in rebate
= $64.00

48MB 8x:

$159.99 store price
- $50.00 instant rebate
- $61.99 Mfr. mail-in rebate
= $48.00

Well, this sounds like a great deal, but I can't find this Mfr. mail-in rebate (a whopping $85) mentioned anywhere on Lexar's site. Does anyone have any information on this?

It also looks like that have a second entry, but only $169.99 (not the $199 referenced in the flyer you mention): Lexar CF 64MB at $169.99

This deal is now posted on CompUSA's website, but I still don't see any further expalnation of the large Mfr. rebate.

Anyone have any further information?

It's true! Rebate forms at CompUSA are for the big bucks! I think this is a great deal for this CompactFlash card.

Rebate forms state that the deal is only good on purchases made Friday or Saturday.

It's 8X, too.
Will go well with my new canon G1.
If you're gonna go to CompUSA, they have a good quality surge protector free after rebate (it's got phone line plugs,too).

BTW, this is an exclusive CompUSA rebate, so you can't buy it somewhere else and still apply for the rebate.

Beware of the surge protector, it's belkin and my opinion is that you'll have hard time to get the MIR.

I've had no problem with Belkin surge rebates, they come on postcards... the postcard is a check!

I did the Lexar deal. It is a CompUSA-only rebate of $62 or $86 to their standard Phoenix, AZ center (expect 8 weeks on rebates). It is indeed the 8x card, CF064-245 is printed on the top of my barcode for the 64MB 8x model.

Very good deal. YOU HAVE only SEVEN DAYS to get the rebate in. CompUSA trys to screw you on that. Make copies of everything, and if they don't pay go into the store after 8 weeks an make them give you cash!

The 64MB 4X card (SKU 268269) is $169 on their website. The 64MB 8X card (SKU 277977) is $149 w/ the mail-in rebate ($86) . I just went down to my local CompUSA myself and picked it up. Also comes with an USB cable (reader, but only for Lexar cards).

I had no problems with this deal (Bellevue Washington), but I posted about it on rec.photo.digital and some guy went to his local CompUSA and they told him it was a misprint and there was no such rebate. What a load of crap.

I scanned the rebate for him and am sharing it here.

The only problem with their web site is their art (Picture) is for a scanner, but everything else is correct about the item (including price) that I saw.

I went to the Fountain Valley CompUSA, and got in on the deal.

The 64mb 4x CF is $169.00

The 64mb 8x CF is $149.00

hmm...go figure.

Anyway, it comes with a reader as well.

And the rebate is there too.
