All,

Just spoke with IOMEGA on the $30 rebate for the ZipCD (12x4x32) that we all purchased
from CompUSA for $129 with a $30 mail-in-rebate, and IOMEGA will NOT HONOR the rebate
because this model is NOT on the form. As you all remember we were told by CompUSA
employees and managers that this model did in fact qualify for the $30 rebate. I was
advised by IOMEGA to take my documentation back to CompUSA to get my $30 from them.

i thought it was the 12x10x32 we all did from compusa.
As a matter of fact, I just received my $30 rebate from iomega. All I did was send in that slip which came with the order. I sent it with the 1/1/01 - 3/31/01 rebate form, although i purchased it on 12/31/00.

You know, this same issue, CompUSA management/corporate vs manufacturer, was brought up during their Pres Day sale with regards to the memory rebates. I don't remember whether the discussion was here or another site (f*twallet), but I remember writing that manufacturers, and by extension, their rebate fulfillment companies, were not bound by what people were told by CompUSA employees.

It might be tough to get CompUSA to refund you the $30 for the rebate that they promised you without the original UPC. Fulfillment companies never return the UPC, even when they deny a rebate. If I bought the product I would certainly return to the store with my photocopies and the sales circular, if you kept it, and try to get them to give me my $30, or, failing that, $30 in store credit. I know I kept the sales circular for the Pres. Day sale, just in case.

It will be interesting to see how that whole memory rebate business shakes out in the coming weeks.

CRY HAVOC! AND LET SLIP THE BARGAIN HUNTERS OF WAR!!

Time to punch the lying sack of sh!t that told me they will honor the rebate. I'm going to go there tommorow and demand my rebate. If they don't comply I'm gonna grab something thats worth $30 bucks and walk out the store with it.

Not really but I'm gonna make a huge over-drawn scene of it if they attempt to not honor it.

CompUsa is the store I hate the most. In fact I am planning to file a complaint aginst them in Florida Dept Of Agri and Consumer affair because every time I go get the advertised item, they say we are out and this happened 5 times. I drove 40 miles one way just to get pissed off. Don't buy from these crappy store.......

How did you get into this mess? When did you buy it? Didn't everyone try to buy that 12x10x32, the rebadged Plextor or Sanyo?

CompUSA was selling Iomega 12x10x32x for $129, not 12x4x32. Did they sell you a 12x4x32 as a replacement for the Iomega 12x10x32x and told you the rebate will work? If they did, you got cheated twice - first for the rebate and second, because some of retail places (Staples comes to mind) were selling the 12x4x32 for $99 on several occasions. I got my rebate for the 12x10x32x from Iomega two weeks after mailing it (!!) -- they must have learned from the class-action suit three years ago.

hey yugpatel that doesnt mean that the store is bad at all.. some people that find out about the sale ahead of time wait down at the door before the sale and normally when its a really good deal they rarely have more than 20 of that item to selll so dont get all bent outta shape because you couldnt put it to the man. I never have had a problem with staples, bestbuy, or compusa in general and just because i might not be able to pricematch this one thing or whatever I dont get all pissy or anything just take a step back and puff some of the good stuff and life is good hehehehehe

I think you got your drives mixed up, we all purchased the 12X drive from CompUSA when it was $129. I got one of the $129 12x10x32x Iomega's from CompUSA in late December during the frenzy about it on this board. It shipped on 1/24. Sent in my rebate a few days after I got it and received the $30 this week. This is the fastest rebate I can remember getting.

I just called and they dont have mine either.. I scanned all pertinet data though.. receipt, rebate filled out, upc code.. If I dont get some money soon, I guess I will get mad and go use my 20.00 dollar off free at office depot again.. just to make my self fill better .... ha ha, used it today and picked up the kensington optical pro mouse and a mouse pad free.. just show them the date shows it does not expire till 03/25/01 and they input the 9999 code and off I went.. I guess Im just a mean person.. for taking advantage of a corporation that makes more in a day then I will make in my life time...

Mccall, what do you mean? Are you referring to the "limit 1" on the rebate for the memory? I knew I should've only got one.
I've never had a rebate "rejected" before. How do they notify you? Or do you have to figure it out yourself?

Um, I just got a $30 Iomega rebate in the mail TODAY. My Iomega was backordered and I got it about 2-3 weeks ago...the rebate came rather quickly.
