Yeah that tdk looks pretty sweet actually. Externals can be annoying with the AC adapter but that's a sweet burner. 25 bucks after rebate for the hival burner ain't so bad either if you don't mind a hival. Don't know what the manufacturer is on that one .. anyone ?

The panasonic DVD/VCR combo looks pretty nice too. 190 after rebate ain't too bad. Panasonic makes nice vcrs.

Wow bummer I really expected more from a 1 day Christmas sale, I guess
their promotion people fell asleep at the wheel.

hi-vals have been benqs [afaik] recently. there may be other brands used also... but i've only seen benqs in hi-val/iomagic/digital research recently. if those brands come with nero [recently] they might be benq
type "hival" in some of the cd mastering forums on the net, worked for me
good luck

The Olympus 4mp camera was a very hot price. However, I was on the site at 1:35 eastern and they were already sold out. That's not right. I can't believe there were thousands of purchases in that late hour. Sounds like they had a very, very limited supply. Most of the stores around my area are sold out, and, like others have said, it's a one-day internet-only sale, so no chance to even pickup the thing at $349. That's such a tease. Very lame.

I don't think they could handle TWO DAYS of those kind of INSANE prices :disgust:
Yeah, those prices are kind of INSANE. I guess at the very least, by me just clicking around their site a little, it boosted their Web stats up a little.

Actually, their Apple iBook was priced at 60% off ... of what it would have sold TWO YEARS ago! Plus, it's a refubished item.

That's a good point. However, I can still get through to the item and enter my Zip code. However, it's not available at any of the 5 stores in my area. I guess if they are offering these items during a "one day, Internet only sale" - then, they should disable the option for you to check the stock at your local stores.

well they have good prices sometimes... but you basically have to want something that nobody else would normally want. i got a good deal on 2000 fonts a while back.

wje - you can always check local stock, you may not get the internet price is all. I have argued that point several times, to the point where unless there is an item on sale at Crapusa, I avoid the store.

From a programming standpoint, it is much easier to put the disclaimer in than to write exceptions for a few selected items.

Actually the external enclosure is just a bunch of plastic pieces surrounding the card. Main purpose of it is to hide the daughter card in the back that is just directly attached to the drive. That's why the case is so conforming to the drive. You can take it out of the case, but then the "case" would be no-functional and then you can use the burner as a normal internal drive.

I thought they were in good shape, since they have the guts to charge 15% restocking after Xmas. Prices are the same as MC, CC and BB, but they dont offer the same guarantees? No wonder less people shop there. I bet they lose a lot of repeat business every Xmas when people find out they cant return opened items.

CompUSA is not the only company to charge restocking fees. Read the fine print at the Micro-Center or Best Buy. Most of these places will not let you purchase a new laptop, use it (or even open it for that matter) and return it a few days later without a restocking fee.

I am the CompUSA regional manager, and I want to say POOP ON YOU ALL!
We are not a charity, we are an occasionally-profitable organization built around ripping people off by selling them overpriced outdated hardware. Get it?

Just kidding
If not for the cute girl at the register, I wouldn't bother buying and then returning stuff over and over again.
