To me this seem to be better then any of those birthday sale... even better then the one they say match manufacture rebate.

Did a quick search but didn't see this anywhere in the hot deal section.

What makes this seem to be hot is the net price... which is after savings and rebates. This is 1 way to get out of the rebate stuff.

This is what my email read:

Seems like CompUSA has a different sale/gimmick everyday. For some reason, I have a really hard time finding any good deals there.

This would be hot if it was in my area. Anyone got info on this happening elsewhere?

this seem to be better then those they've been pulling out their as. They match the price after rebates and stuff. Will give you a tiny better deal and avoid rebate (I think only work if CompUSA don't have that same rebate offer).

Whoa, that's VERY hot!

Especially some of these RAM deals going around, many of them have rebates attached. The interesting question is, does this apply to mfg's as well as store MIRs? It seems like it should.

The real test will be getting CompUSA to PM any competitor's FAR deals!

Btw, if that CC rebate deal on the WD external USB 2.0 HDs is still on this week, that might be an excellent hot deal, for those that missed out on the OM 80GB WD USB2.0 HD deal before.

I'm curious about the "prior sales and gift cards included" verbiage though - aren't gift cards supposed to be spendable as cash? Or are they referring to a prohibition on purchasing them at a discount, rather than using them to pay for an item purchased during this sale event? That must be it, they would be insane to prohibit using a gift card for payment. (They would have the AG up their *** in a heartbeat if they did that.)

Why is this a special 5 hour thing? I've price-matched the after-rebate price quite a few times. Of course, though, when I did, I could get CUSA to PM staples AR price when it was a staples rebate. How is this different?? (or maybe I did it at Best Buy)? Plus, I believe I've done the PM of AR price with 110% PM policies.

Wait, I'm confused. So is this saying if office depot has memory on sale for $39.99 ARs, CompUSA will match the AR price +5%? As in you don't need a rebate, just pay the $39.99?

Actually I'm ready to bet that this will involve a mail in rebate.
CompUSA already has a policy of matching competitor prices (not the 5%). If the competitor price involves a rebate, they generate a special compUSA rebatethat you need to send in like any other rebate. At least that's what my local compUSA has been doing for a few months.
So I'm guessing they're going to do the same for this.

If that is true, then it's back to ConUSA.

It would have to apply only to store rebates. If it was a manufacturer's rebate, you could still send away for it even after they included it in the pricematch. It would be pretty dumb for them to allow that.

Great timing too. They are running this on this coming SATURDAY. And you need to have a printed copy of the competitor's ad in order to get the savings. So, in order to get this deal, you will need to have the sales ads from last Sunday. I hope that you saved last week's paper! Sneaky!

Interesting, that's news to me. So CompUSA will match after-MIR prices, but using their own custom MIR? Never heard that before. If this sale is the same sort of thing (but +5%), that's not quite as hot as I originally imagined it: getting the AR price of a competitor, as the OTD price of the same item at CompUSA. Hmm.

PS. Also noticed that OfficeMax's ad for Mar. 13-19, seems rather.. spartan.. to me.

Just a reminder, the BB ad last week had the WinXP Home for $39.99 after rebate.

Be a super deal at CompUSA for $37.00+ tax (assuming you have tax)

So does this mean that i can bring the radio shack ad that has the 512 micro drive on sale for $20 AR and they'll give it to me for $20, w/o a rebate?? If so...that is pretty darn hot.

Hmm ... I fail to see how this is better than BestBuy or CircuitCity price match policy ... who will beat any local competitor's price (including CompUSA) by 10% (110% PM policy) ... and that too all day all year long on all locations ... not just during a special day on a 5 hours period.

May be I am missing something ... anyone care to explain what is so special about this CompUSA 5% 5-hour deal at selected locations ???

before everyone gets too excited about this deal remember, the products in the ad must be the *exact* same product that CompUSA carries *and* they must have them in stock. i stopped by my local CompUSA to see if they had a maxtor external hard drive that was on sale at Staples and they said they were sold out and don't expect any more until april. argh...

Maybe with the special sale they will price match a competitor's price after rebate, but according to the price match policy I'm attaching below I don't see them doing it at any other time.

CompUSA?s Retail Store Low Price Guarantee.
We'll beat any local retail competitor's advertised price on every product we sell by $1.00, either at the time of purchase or within the following 14 days. Our low price commitment covers all new, factory sealed products of the same brand and model number that are available, and in stock, at any local retail store. Our commitment does not apply to Internet offers or any one-of-a-kind or other limited-quantity offers, discontinued or close out items, mail-in rebates, refurbished products, trade-in sales, or special financing.

From OP:
*5% taken from competitor's advertised net price (after savings and rebates)

Instead of just speculating here, it might be helpful if someone who successfully price matches an AFTER REBATE price tomorrow morning, posts their experience here
