Dammit. All these LCD hot deal postings are making me itch really bad for one.

Any legit unbiased reviews on this monitor that you know of?

I've read several reviews of the xbrite series monitors.... after seeing these things in person I believe them all.
If you have a compusa near you I'd go check them out..

they are absolutely more brilliant than any LCD I've ever seen. The sony laptop LCDs look amazing too.

and the 12ms response? What's not to love?

Theses are great if you don't mind your eyes falling out from the glare. Good for games and movies, but I don't think for any serious work.

No swivel. One thing I like about LCDs is the ability to use them in portrait mode when I need vertical space. For some people the small stand works (especially if your desk space is at a premium) but I like the ultra-adjustable stands like Dell and Viewsonic have on their high end LCDs. It is a pity that such a good monitor is stuck with so poor a stand (at least for my usage).

From the LCD's I've seen, the SONY X-brites look the sharpest. You would swear it was a CRT

saw it @ BB last Sunday and fell in love with it! Same price, 499 AR. Sadly, I can only drool, not buy.

I have one and i'm taking it back to get another one. It seems that the earlier line has lots of back light leakage problems but if you get one with a manufacturing date of 2004-40 or higher you should be okay. You can check yours by holding the menu button for 5 seconds.

Anyway the glare isn't bad, no more than a flat crt. Your rarely see any reflections unless the monitor is off. Viewing angles are good and colors are amazing compared to any other lcd out there right now. The benq 937s i had before this looked like absolute crap in comparison.

If your looking for an lcd this is the one to buy. Plus you get $200 back in rebates.

I was informed by one of my good friends (works as a sony rep) that they will be releasing a new model soon. He didn't know the specs yet, but all he heard was that its going to give you more bang for your buck.

I don't think this deal is that or....or maybe I should say I found one equally hot. You can get this for 649.99-100 MIR at jr.com. It comes out to 549.99 shipped. Depending on where you live and the sales tax you pay at compusa(on 599$)...it comes out to the about the same price. In Chicago, where I live, 8.5% tax on 599 makes it 649.92...take off 100 and it's seven cents less than jr.com. I might get this monitor, but I can't decide between this and the Dell 2005 widescreen for a little more.

Got this monitor last week from staples. Pricematched to compusa istant $100 off and on top of it used the 12% customer appreciation coupon, which was about $72 (12% of $599).
$699-100 (PM) - 72 (12%) - 100 (MIR) = $427 + 5% tax on 527= approximately about $450

Had a $100 staples rewards check, so finally $350

The extra 12% off and the $100 rewards check was the reason to buy it from staples.

Haven't hooked it up yet. Will do it this week

Was going to go for this deal today, but even though on the CompUSA page it lists the price clearly as $599 pre $100 MIR, it adds it as $699 to the shopping cart. It's also not available on jr.com anymore. Anyone know where else/what I could do to get this beautify for $599 pre $100 MIR? Need to act soon to have the MIR be valid.. Thanks!

Question to all those who have this LCD.

Does it have that plastic/semi-plastic screen on the front which protects the LCD + gives it a bolder/clearer picture?

I notice a lot of laptops now have that semiplastic protective covering on it and I love it, makes the picture look so much sharper/bolder.

Get it from staples. Order thro discover link for additional 10% off. Order at $699 and after receiving order conf PM to CompUSA for the instant $100 to get $110 back (110% PM)

Net would be $699.99-110 = $589.99 -$58.99 = $530 + tax - $100 MIR = $430 + tax. No shipping. and eligible for easy rebate, no paper work and upc needs to be mailed.

Edit: Use a staples coupon to save more. Assuming you use a 30 off 150 it will come out to about $400, which IMO is a very good deal for this monitor.

Damn, unfortunately this isn't gonna work. On the CompUSA page, it shows that the $599 is AFTER the $100 MIR. (Click on Mail in Rebate on the link and it explains that). So I guess the PM isn't possible. Bummer.. I saw people doing this before, but I guess the price was raised. If anyone else has any other ideas, let me know.. would love to jump on this before the MIR expires.

The rebate expires at the end of Jan 05. The compusa 100 instant off has been coming every alternate week starting with 2 weeks before thanksgiving. They had it during thanks giving 2 day special and came back the very next week. It will probably come back again. Just be patient.

CompUSA and a good deal? Not possible... they are trying to get rid of their bad LCD monitors. Every single person I know(including myself) had bad experience with CompUSA. Not to forget bunch of assh*les sitting at their customer service.
