Not sure if the Viewsonic is found for a better price. But I found it here.

http://www.techonweb.com/shop/...details.aspx?id=513531

The shipping is only $16.41 and the monitor is only $550.59. The store has excellent ratings from price grabber with over 1900+ reviews, it is 4.5 stars. There was no tax on my order, so the total was $567 for this monitor without a hassle of rebates.

I believe this monitor is better because it has the swivel stand and adjustable stand. If you are paying over $500 for a monitor, it should have all that stuff I believe. This is a great monitor.

The Viewsonic looks very nice--but I've heard only endless raves about the Sony model. The swivel and adjustable stand on the Viewsonic is very nice, but I don't know how how much I'd actually use ths swivel. Although I admit the viewsonic is a more 'eye pleasing' monitor (aethstetically).

If the Sony drops $100 next week (b/c of CompUSA IR as Vasp said) then that's obviously what I'm going to go for.. but if not, then I'm in stalemate. Tough choices!

$548 free shipping. If you guys got the Dell stackable discounts you can get it for less then 548. :frown:

25 ms video response doesn't sound too hot

That's not the same monitor. You refer to the VP191, I reference the VP912b. 12ms, not 25ms.

Staples ahs the customer appreciation again next week for 12% off. If compusa brings back the instant $100 off, the deal I've mentioned above is back again.

I also bought a sony hs94p recently and am loving it. It was an upgrade for my 5 year old 21" sony g500 and it looks a lot better. The previous poster was right about getting one with a manufacturing date of week 40 or higher as the earlier ones do have backlight problems. I had a couple of week 38's that both had bad backlight bleeding that almost extended into the middle of the screen but the week 44 I got when I exchanged it a 3rd time is basically perfect. No dead pixels and no noticeable backlight bleeding. I can't recommend this lcd enough if you're a gamer as it has great response time and ghosting is all but unoticeable unless you're actively looking for it. Glare is not a problem either unless you look at super dark screens all day with a ton of lights on. There is much less glare on this than my old crt. I almost considered buying a really nice 21" nec or mitsubishi crt but decided with going with my first lcd and have absolutely no regrets.

Can anyone compare this monitor to the VX910? I've heard issues with reflection on the xbrite screen, and obviously the visual design is far inferior to Viewsonic's. The 12ms vs. 16ms question doesn't make a difference to me, since the VX910 apparently has no ghosting and is fine for games, I play them, but not competitively enough to where 4ms is going to make a difference.

I'm more interested in things like visual quality. I've also heard that the XBrite screen strains the eyes. Anybody able to compare side by side before I bring one home to do my own?

Sony is like doing the opposite now, they use to taught their antiglare coating. It really comes down to where you use it and lighting. For my room the screens are faced against the windows and at night i have indirect lighting, so i barely get any glare. Also i don't mind glare that might to begin with and have a Viewbright laptop and don't really notice the glare either. But for people with florescent lights on the ceiling it can be a big problem. And in terms of straining the eye, the screen is a lot brighter than normal LCDs so you might wanna turn down the brightness, i think it will do more of the opposite due to the incredible sharpness and color.

Got sony sdm94p on thxgiving week from BB with 10% discount (pm to CC) and they also had no interest til 2007.

The display on the monitor is absolutely fabulous. I play counter strike and 12ms response time kicks ass! There's barely any ghosting. Texts are crisp, colors are vibrant, and I love the design! No, it doesnt have the swival nor the height adjustment feature but are those features really necessary?

Only bad thing about this monitor that I've noticed is the location of monitor setting adjustment. Other than that this monitor is great, especially if your a gamer!

I have this monitor & I really don't see a problem with the glare. I paid $550 AR.

As others have mentioned it's all in where you place it as compared to other lighting sources ie. windows/lighting.

I also have a Dell 1900FP & the difference it truly night & day.

On the XBRITE display you get a true black color where on the other anti-glare lcd monitors their black it really a drak grey.

This 'true' black makes for amazing contrast & color replication.

If you're on the fence you definitely should go look @ one, I think you'll be plesantly surprised!

If any of you owners of the hs94p have backlight leakage problems on the sides especially then take it back while you still can and get a higher week production one. The ones above week 40 or so really are almost perfect displays and the only negative thing about them is the 16.2 million colors vs the other 16 ms response 19" lcds that have 16.7 million colors. You sacrifice some color that really isn't noticeable unless you do graphics work, to get the faster response time for awesome game performance. I also play Countrstrike: Source on it like MrBLUNT and it really is amazing looking through dvi on my overclocked 6800 gt with all the graphic options up, and no eyestrain at all even after many, many hour marathon sessions. 1280x1024 really is the sweetspot for today's games with decent hardware unless you have sli 6800 ultras or something then you'd probably want a 1600x1200 display.
