1. In my profile, it DOES say I have ratings turned on.

Ok smarty pants but how do I give you a 10 rating if your PROFILE isn't visible or turned on?

I guess this is the mp3 player:

Manufacturer link
Amazon link

hmm..the reviews seem...interesting...one has good things about it, and the others destroy it. The ear phones are mis-shaped, it seems, and it has a smaller jack, battery life is about 2 hours in use, and if you try it with XP, don't format it, otehrwise it'll ruin it.

hmm...I don't think I'm gonna buy the mp3 player...the company is really horrible, said just about all the reviewers, and it does not have a CF slot...unlike CC says

I dunno...when I check my profile information, I have the view profile/allow ratings both turned on. Well, if anybody doubts your rating of me, they can always refer to the thread.

Staples had this for a little over $200 back around Thanksgiving time last year IIRC (got one for the wife); so $299 isn't all that great. Nonetheless, it's not a bad price for a 15 inch LCD. It's easy to use, 1024x768 native res; color is ok but contrast is a bit high. Viewing angle does matter when viewing images that have shallow color gradients. Great for everyday use, but not for high accuracy color work (like someone who uses Photoshop all day). Not for fast graphics either (games). YMMV of course.

Who makes the Hi-Val "free" CD-RW? From past experience Hi-Val drives have usually been Acer or Phillips...

last 2 out of 3 24x10x40 HiVals I dealt with were Acer/BenQ ..they sucked up CPU cycles and finally locked up my comp..(Biostar M7MIA w/1700+ 512MB Crucial DDR2100..WD 100GB 7.2k XPPro Retail) ...my PineTechnologies CW058D runs nicely..just picked up another(delivered actually...) CW058D in a PacificDigital box from Staples..ordered 2 weeks ago. HiVal box could even contain Lite-on, Teac,Aopen, etc. Reboxed CDRWs...

I betcha those guys at CompUsa were bored sick of giving away free cds all the time. They were prolly lighing up some joints while brainstorming the weeks ad and one said, "Dude,..." and came up with this novel idea.

I like it.

Oh yes. I know where I'll be Sunday morning. Unless I can order it online. Anybody know if the sale prices will also apply when ordering online?

Bump since the sale starts tomorrow. Wonder how many of the free CD-RW drives they'll have?

Oh, and once again, does anybody know if their in-store sales normally apply online as well?

CompUSA has offered their sale prices online in the past, so I don't think this would be any exception.

Well, you're gonna have to pay for it somehow...either for the CD-RW or for the spindle of CD-r's, but this is still a good deal for those that need CD-R's and maybe an extra CD-RW, a gift for somebody, or a system builder piecing something together.
