Folks, read step #5 of the rebate form. It clearly states

<< Send the three required items together, to be received no later than April 30, 2001to: " >>

. So, if you happen to purchase the drive between Dec 30, 2000 and March 31, 2001 I beleive you still have about 3 months to send it in. I didn't see any Jan 31st deadline (today) anywhere. Am I right, or did I misread/miss something???

Skorpio...that's exactly what I was thinking. However, I don't really trust Iomega with their rebates...apparently people have been getting them early, but were those mail in rebates or were those simply credit given by CompUSA? It seems a person could get a $60 rebate (30 from compusa, and 30 from iomega) but...let's hope they don't pick up on that, heh.

What are you people talking about? I haven't been following this thread, but I did buy this drive at the B&M bright and early in the morning at CompUSA. Anyway, I was just about to do the rebate, and it says the receipt must be dated by 12/30/2000 and 3/31/2001 and must be received by 4/30/2001. This is for the 12x10x32x $30 MIR, from Iomega (maybe the other form is a CompUSA rebate). Who knows.

I got mine Yesterday, took 6 days after the email said shipped (1/24/01).

Edit
I just called Compusa and was told that they will credit back $30 to my cc within 7 to 10 days.

Thanks, carmann

I just called them to see if they can credit $30 to my cc so that I don't have to wait for the MIR rebate.

The CSR I talked was very nice but she said it's gotta be handled by a specialist who would contact me about the best solution to solve this BS problem. She couldn't issue a $30 to my cc at that time....doh

Ok guys, the rebates are like this.
There are three of them.
 1. On the first rebate, the drive needed to be purchased by 12/31/00 and the form sent in by 1/31/01 (this rebate was DLable from iomeagas website)
 2. The second rebate came from the store, and some people have said that it came with their drives. With this rebate the drive needed to be bought from Dec 30, 2000 to March 31, 2001 and mailed in by April 30, 2001.
 3. On the last rebate form, also available from the iomega website, the drive needed to be bought on or after 1/1/01

Okay, just called CompUsa and they told me my order was still backordered (WB4999X). I then asked him why my credit card had been charged. He did some research (blah blah blah) and told me my drive shipped on 1/27. I had ordered two of them and will only receive one. Could this be why my order is still listed as backordered because I won't be getting the other drive. I tried to get him to credit my card for $30. Didn't work. Will try again later.

wassup, the only rebate forms that Iomega has are the ones dated for purchases made 11-01-00 thru 12-31-00 but must be RECEIVED by 1-31-01 and 1-1-01 thru 3-31-01 (people who purchased the drive on 12-31-00 can't use this one) but must be rec'd by 4-30-01. They aren't aware of the one that you and a few other people have. I called Iomega a few days ago to try to get one and they said it doesn't exist. I even called my local Compusa and they said they don't have them either. We know it's out there because Randyl posted a copy of it a few days ago.

Compusa didn't want us to lose out on the rebate so they are crediting us back $30 for the drive since the rebate form that we would have used (11-01-00 thru 12-31-00) is no longer valid.

btw, Thanks Skorpio for the form, I just got it today as well as my drive.

Just got home from work...and drive is on my door step!! Never got e-mail saying shipped, and as of last night at 02:00 a.m. est it was still shown as back-ordered so they will come...Now have to figure out rebate since I purchased it on 12/31/00, but pack slip shows 1/24/01...Also says in description on pack slip " Please include rebate !!1 ". Not sure about that. I may just go with what earlier post said about using packing slip with rebate.

p.s. Still shows back-ordered on the Comp site?

Later,
Medmike

You are right, I got the drive yesterday, I guess they had the tracking number mixed up (aren't they smart enough to re-use those numbers after a few months at least?!) Anyway, called CompUSA today, asked about $30 and what to do about expired rebate form, she told me:

"CompUSA has a plan set up with Iomega so they will still accept the rebate forms" So no credit to my credit card, darn.

Welp, I just got an email stating that my drive has shipped. Of course, the tracking information is innacurate, stating that the drive was delivered before I even ordered it, in Dallas, over 1,000 miles from me.

Whether or not the drive comes, remains to be seen. How long did it take for those who got their drives, from when they got the email to when they got it?

Too bad, this could have been CompUSA's chance to redeem themselves as a retailer. If they would have handled this better, it would have been a step toward restoring confidence in them. As they decided to wait a month or more before filling orders, their already dirt-low reputation has been tarnished even further.

Took me 3 weeks or so to get mine. Ordered 2, received 1, no rebate form in the box. Called about just getting one, the guy said he'd expedite the second. 2 hours later I get an email that says my order has been cancelled. Called back and the CSR was guessing that they would fill multiple orders as supply warranted. For those that picked up 2, 3, 4 or 6 of 'em... color me green with envy.

Hawk, I'm surprised that Compusa told you that they had something set up with Iomega to accept the rebate forms. When I called (2 days ago) and spoke with the dept that handles Iomega's rebates, I told them about the email we rec'd saying all rebates would be honored. The 2 people I spoke with had the same reaction, "Who is Compusa to say we will honor a rebate if your form is expired". Keep in mind I did tell them I ordered mine on 12-31-00 and it would be impossible for them (Iomega) to receive my form by today.

Both the reps I spoke with tried, without success to locate the rebate form dated 12-30-00 thru 3-31-01. Both then told me they weren't aware of such a form because if it was available they would show it in their system. They said that sometimes Iomega is lenient with their rebates. They suggested I send in the expired rebate (11-01-00 thru 12-31-00) form because the purchase dates on that form fell within the date that I bought mine. I was also told there was no guarantee that I would get the rebate using that form.

The rebate form dated 12-30-00 thru 3-31-01 is an Iomega rebate but for some reason they don't show that particular form in their system.

Also, as I stated earlier, the rep I spoke with at Compusa said he would go ahead and issue a $30 credit to my cc because the rebate form I had (at the time) would expire before I could send it in. He didn't want me to lose out on my rebate. He also told me that's what the email we rec'd meant (all rebates would be honored). If we weren't able to use the rebate form, they (Compusa) would issue a $30 credit in place of the rebate. It doesn't mean to call and ask them to issue a credit because you don't want wait for a rebate.

As is typical with any company, I guess it all depends on who you talk to.

I received and installed my drive today, before I noted the serial number on it to register it. Does anyone know if the number on the little sticker on the box is the serial number? It has a number that starts with 5SC04, then there's the model number (31120), then a description of the drive. I really don't want to pull my computer apart again to get the serial number off hte drive. Thanks.

Also, CompUSA told me Iomega would honor the rebate, I'll try calling Iomega tomorrow to verify that before I send in my stuff.

I cancelled my order and got the teac drive(bare)for 146.77 from ESbuy.com. They also have other 12x burners for very reasonable prices (i.e. Aopen CRW1232 $128.89 /Ricoh 1720A $136.99). F**k CompUSA.

PS it was also free ground shipping.

mine came yesterday. along with the 75 Cds from amazon. Just hooked to a win 98 system and made that drive a plextor. This drive is really good. I had some generic CDs from a year ago. I think they were only rated as 4x at that time. I can write at 12x on them...

yeknomboy, if you go back a few days in the thread, RandyL was nice enough to scan in a copy of the rebate form for purchases made 12-30-00 thru 3-31-01.
