Guys.....
I am definitely NOT a CompScrewUSA supporter. I've been CompScrewed by them too many times.
However, I will say that they have always come through with the $$$'s on rebates that were not honoured by manufacturer's. It is my understanding that both Bust Buy and CompScrewUSA keep much more than a few $$$'s back from the manufacturer's, just to guarantee that rebates will be honoured.
1. Keep copies of EVERYTHING.
2. If, you purchased by credit card, you can dispute the charge. BUT, you must do this in writing, and generally, most cards require that you do this within 60 days from the statement date on which the purchase appears (check your specific card fine print).
3. In the past, I have phoned CompScrewUSA approximately 3 weeks before my dispute privileges expire, talked to a supervisor and explained the non receipt of the rebate, told them that unless I received the rebate monies from them by xx/xx, I would put the item in dispute. They have always sent me a check for the $$$'s. I simply forwarded copies of the paperwork to a specific supervisor.
4. You can always put it in dispute, and remove the dispute when you receive the rebate, if you have to.
The local CompScrewUSA at one time posted notices by the registers that they were not responsible for manufacturer rebates. I calmly DRUG the store manager over to the notice and pointed out to him that this would not wash, as, CompScrewUSA's advertisement of the rebate was an inducement to purchase, i.e., I would not have purchased the item if it was not advertised as "with rebate". Within two weeks these notices were no longer in place, and I have not seen them in ANY B&M since. Not because I mentioned it, but, I'm sure corporate realized they could face some pretty tough times with the FTC and Attorney General office over this.
Now, the receipt of only one drive, when I ordered more than one, will be a different matter. Especially when they are available in the B&M's. I'll cross that bridge if they don't ship the b/o'd drives.
