Rankor-
Thanks for the heads up!I got mine today.Anyone who gott a rain check, definetly go to compusa especially if you bought from the burbank,Ca store. After rancoer's post i called in.I was asked for a handwritten number telling what place in line i was(stock is limited) that was supposed to be on my reciept but wasn't.After explanining this 7 TIMES to the girl in customer service,I was put on hold for 27 minutes!I hung up and called back, they didn't answer and no one ever got back to me with the voice mail i left.Furious I went in person today.I was asked at will call if someone had called me.I said no and explained the night before's rudeness. They said if hadn't been called i wasn't one of the first 28 people who were to recieve.I asked who was in charge of acalling and could i find out my number.5 minutes later it turns out NO ONE was in charge of calling! They finally looked up my number.I was 11.Should have been called?HELL YES!I got to finally leave with my 2 burners and all is finally right with the world. If you are waiting, pursue it!

My B&M CompUSA has a big fat stack of these on the floor for $279 a piece. I wonder if there's anyone I can finagle one out of them for the $100 as I have a backordered one waiting from compusa.com ... ???

Yeah, I think Iomega is a sure short...Unfortunately, the stock
is so low ($3 range), that you can't short using options...leaving
yourself open to uncapped risk if you have the misfortune of being
wrong (I'm sure, but then I'm sure of a lot of things... ).

Anyway, what has Iomega got anymore? Zip? Yesterday's news, closer
to dead and buried each day (if they'd had another year or two
before CD burners came out, they might have had a shot at replacing
the floppy, but now forget it...). Jaz drives? Too expensive to
be appealing to most people when you can store 700Mb on a 20 cent
CD. Click drives? Naw. You can get 32Mb smartmedia for < $50 these
days, even cheaper for CompactFlash. And with minidrives and
whatnot, forgeddaboudit. Iomega branded CD writers? Yeah, that
was a great business strategy for Smart and Friendly, too.

So...what...?

Well they sure arn't giving out free shipping now...
I talked to a manager, and man was he a dick about it. Not our fault, we don't update our website, it's another company, we can't be liable, it's iomega's fault, they can't fill our order...

So why would they not ship to us when their B&M stores has been reported to have a lot on the shelves?

I saw one of these drives at Best Buy today. It was "Open Box" and marked at $259. Right on their label, it states "Our lowest price within the last 30 Days: $279." Technically speaking, their lowest price was $99/$129, so should this drive be even cheaper?

I didn't have time to ask about it, because they were swamped. It's amazing how busy they are during the day.

I wonder if anyone has a job these days.

What Compusa did you go to I have a raincheck and yesterday they told me they were 140 units behind and that it would take me 3-4 weeks to pick one up. If they actually had one in the store they said they would be held for rainchecks.

According to a guy on resellarratingsc.com who works Compusa, the B&M store and online store are seperate divisons for CompUSA. They have different inventories. So the inventory for the online store could be zero and the B&M store could be loaded witht the Iomega burners.

I never did receive the email that all of you are talking about. I called a rep and he told me that they are sending them out as soon as they get them in order of the orders. I was told to wait about a week. I guess we will see.

I have not received any e-mail notice either. I ordered my two about 10 mins after they started having them on the website. My status is still backordered.

While I tried to do everything possible to get one of these drives, CompUSA has been completely irresponsible in their efforts. I was first in line at the N.O. Ohio store when they opened on Sun.. I was told they had Zero in stock but would take the names of the first five people and a shipment of five would be in on Tues. and I would be called. I went to the store Tues. to be told that the sale was for two days only and they "sold all they had Sun." I proceded to explain that I was the first person through the door and they had none."You better talk to the Manager". The Manager changed the story and said that they would honor the sale price to the first people on the list as the drives arrived and I would be called. I never received a call so I went to the B&M yesterday and asked the salesman if any of the Iomega drives had arrived and he said "yes but they went out to the people on the list". I told him that I was on the list and never received a call, Next he pulls the list from under the counter and askes me what number I was, I replied that I was first I look down at the list and see one name crossed out #3 and no others on the whole sheet. The salesman gets a little pale and says he will go get the manager. After 10 mins. the clerk and the manager return and start punching into the computer for about 2 mins. They then respond that they will be getting more in "soon" and that, Yea you guessed it,"I would be called went they arrived". Now I'am pissed off I tell the clerk I want to see the names of the other 4 people who got drives and he says that he doesn't know, I suggested that they were held for employes and friends of employees and that they never had any intentions of carrying out this sale in a fair matter. "We will call you when they arrive"

CompUSA North Olmsted Ohio is ULTIMATE SUCK

Any word yet anyone? I just called the local store again and got rejected again. The manager said that they have them listed as available to order (for their store) so the .com must have them available to order as well. He could not explain why they are not getting them in to fulfill their backorders. My prophesy is looking truer each day. We're screwed on this one.

It pays to read the Hot Deals Forum!!! ...plus a note on the $30.00 rebate

I found out about the sale on the 12/10/32 iomega drive while at work friday night/saturday morning - i stopped by and picked ONE up (I could kick myself now!) about 10 mins before they closed on saturday night. I was able to go back the next morning and have my price adjusted from $299.xx ($279.99 + tax) down to $139.xx ($129.xx + tax).

I stopped by another store on Monday a.m. before they opened ... only three in stock - all were snatched up before I could get to them.

I have an Iomega rebate form in from of me - It reads in part....

<< Include copies of store reciept(s)/invoices dated between 12/30/2000 and 3/31/2001 (no purchase orders accepted), with Iomega CDRW 12/10/32 drive purchases circled.

<snip>....</snip> Mail-in requests must be received by 4/30/2001
>>

So my friends, there is still hope to lower the price on this flaming hot deal!

Again, it pays to read the Hot Deals Forum!!!

I finally gave up, and sent an email to cancel my backordered Iomega CDRW. It's amazing how their site can keep showing that my local store (Hauppauge, NY) either is out-of-stock or is available in limited quantity, yet they've been out-of-stock since the big sale. Speaking to a salesman there, he bought one for his girlfriend. So I guess all drives that were available during the 2-day sale, and those that mysteriously appear in-stock thereafter are for employees only. Plus, he said I couldn't get it at the sale price even with my online receipt. Turned around and ordered the TDK VeloCD 12x10x32 from Buy.com for $148.22 (final price after code, shipping, $50rebate). At least this item (TDK) was In Stock, unlike CompUsa.com. Had ordered it (Iomega) on 12-31 ~5:30am when In Stock for $129.99, showed 'Processing' until after the holidays, then 'Back Ordered'. Then an email saying 3-4 (4-6 weeks when I called). Yet local stores seem to go in/out of stock with them? What happened to those who ordered it online? Shabby way of doing business, but I guess that's to be expected from CompUsa.
