Yeahhhhhhh. I've got e-mail from Comp-USA saying mine shipped. WB52XXX Damn...Have to call them about the rebate. I've bought a Sony 12X8X32 from them about 4 or 5 months ago when they had the $50 MIR but never got it. I hope I get this one. Just hang in there guys.

Peetoeng, I started using ShopSafe right after I ordered my Iomega and was wondering if anyone was going to have this problem. I can see why MBNA would not admit any fault, because they didn't do anything wrong. The same thing could have happened even without ShopSafe, but its just less likely since a real card probably expires every x years instead of in a month or two. CompUSA should allow you to give them an updated card number since they are the ones who waited so long that the card expired. You could probably force them to take another card but is it worth the time and any legal fees? I'd try to reason with them again. Don't even mention ShopSafe, any extra info to juggle will surely overtax their feeble brains. Just tell them the card expired because they took a month to bill you. Since the dollar limit is just as effective a security measure as the expiration, I now give the ShopSafe cards at least 2 months just in case.

I finally got the CDRW four days ago.
(Read my previous post in this message thread for more details...
.but really this thing should have been closed and a new thread made.)

The drive has one LED so I suppose this is the Plextor version.
How do you verify this?

Here is the full nightmare for you guys who haven't received your drive yet.....

I waited 35 days altogether and I called every day after I received my initial E-mail on the 23rd stating that the drive was being sent.

I spoke with a female rep. name (Chermane-or-Chermiyun) who left me on hold and hung up.
Then a female rep. named Janice who was very polite but nothing she said ever came true.
After sending a couple of emails and not getting a reply, I tried the CSR number again.

After speaking with Chermain and being hung up on I spoke with a male rep. who sent me to a supervisor.
I think this rep. was named Matt Young but I may be wrong that may be another supervisor or rep.

Here is the info which I got for Matt Young :
Matt Young - ext. 27212
Call this number 1-800-834-7328 and leave a message regarding the condition of your order.

Matt was not available but the male rep. sent me to another person named Scott Stumbo.

He was very willing to help although by this time I was so pissed I told him straight out that anyone I spoke to I considered a liar and until I saw a result I would not take anyone at their word.

He promised to call me back before the end of the day, he did, so he wasn't a liar so far.
He said the box had gotten lost at Fedex, the same thing alot of people have heard from reps,
also I heard this from Janice originally.

I think it has to be a way for them to get around paying back the shipping and handling charges.

Currently I have sent two emails asking for those charges to be returned which Scott said would be credited to my account but has not shown up. And I have called him regarding the rebate as well.

No success so far.

I just got the rebate number from the forum so let see what happens.

These people are complete incompetents and this should be published in Consumer Affairs journals and news.

Please don't let them get away with theft, if you ordered the drive to be sent within two days and the promised two day buisness day date was not kept after you received your confirmation, please ask for a refund of the shipping and handling charges.

I don't know about Shopsafe but it's probably similar to amex private payments. and I was just told me amex yesterday that even though it has an expiration, say 1 month from now, that it's a one time use number-- so as soon as it's authorized by a vendor, that's it.


So say I used a private paymnets number for this deal and CompU authorized it on Dec 31. Then that dropped off the system, as it should bc it wasn't shipped in 5 days. Then a month later they try to re-authorize/bill it bc now they're ready to ship--> even though the card's expiration date is march, it will fail bc it was authorized in Dec 31 and it cannot be used again.

Well, that's how amex works, I think. Discover might be the same.

I hope this works out for you all. My order # was 493xx adn I bailed on the Iomega and got a TDK a few weeks ago.

Thanks stingygrrl. I think that is what had happened--post pre-authorization coitus interruptus .

I got myself a real plextor, but I egayed it after I placed this order from compusa. I really am hapless.

Got it! Nice, upgraded to 1.07 without any problems. They said they would credit my card with the $30, but then reneged, because they "stopped doing that a week or two ago." Before the rebate had even expired? Very strange... but they are sending me the rebate forms, supposedly. They claim Iomega's going to honor it, even late. Good luck everyone!

I "discovered" AT on 12/31, just in time to get in on this deal, and I wanted to share my success story.

Received my drive yesterday. Ordered online 12/31, about 1:00 pm EST (order number WB5116x). They shipped me "job order 43270," which turned out to be a Plextor. Label on the unit said 'Mfd. Jan 2001' with a TLC of 306.

It had firmware 1.06 right out of the box -- flashed to 1.07 with no troubles. No rebate coupon in the box, but I'll get that off the web.

All I need now is some good luck with the rebate, and this will be a golden deal for me! Thanks to all at AT for sharing the info and helping me to get in on it!

Hehe they sent me the WRONG drive 12x4x32x I called em.... after speaking to 4 people who didnt know S*** i finally got transferred to somebody who actually knew how to get a return for me. Monday i had it RMA'd back to compusa. I should recieve the drive in about a week according to them. I just hope they dont send me another 12x4x32x or I will raise all hell on them.

My order status was "shipped" yesterday...

I wouldn't be too disappointed if I got the sanyo 12x10x32x....but i really hope they don't send me the 12x4x32...

So how would we go about getting the rebate now? For those of us just getting the drive?

Well this is kind of an update on this, though not the kind that's being posted here up till now.

I received my $30 rebate check from Iomega on Friday, 02/02. Definitely a personal record as far as rebate turnaround-time... I mailed it on 01/09, so just a little over 3 weeks is really great.

$99 for this drive was an awesome deal, for me surpassed only by my recently-received $1.99 X-files Season 1 from KB!

Everyone can probably thank the Zip drive rebate fiasco from a couple years ago for the current better handling of Iomega rebates.

My order wb513xx is set for delivery next week. Here's hoping it comes through.

I remember the Zip rebate problems. They said I needed to send in the Original receipt, even though I had already sent it in ! They refused to send me the rebate.

However, somehow when they settled the lawsuit, I ended up getting 2 rebates along with the free zip disk in each package.

Received my unit today. It was zipcdp1024int 8x4x32. Nice for me. Now I have to get a RMA and wait another 2 weeks. Compusa is suck. Plus they said they will only be shipping ONE to everyone. Even if you ordered more then one. They are limited ONE per customer. COMPUSA IS SUCK COMPUSA IS SUCK! :|

Maybe with a receipt and the wrong item, you could get an exchange at a local CompUSA store?

AND I just got my shipping notice, and it was for all 4 drives.

Mine shows all 4 drives shipped, but I only got one. I'll have to see what they charged my credit card. I kind of hope they charged me for all 4, then I can tell them to ship me the other 3 or I'll turn them in for fraud.

As stated a couple hundred posts ago, the rebate center said that you send in the packing slip and they go by the shipped date for the rebate. They said do not send in receipt or a copy--the packing slip is the thing they go by for the "purchase date".
(And of course you send in the appropriate rebate, etc).

I ordered using MBNA ShopSafe, but I realized the stupid drive wasn't going to get here before the "card" expired, so I called up CompUSA to give them my new credit card info. They guy basically tells me he can't do anything but read your order status off of the web page and tells me someone else would DEFINITELY call me back that night or the next day. Never got a call, called back and got a different CSR, and they did it for me on the phone right then and there. I think CompUSA CSR's need a little bit better training

Got my drive today. It has two LED's on face so I guess I got the Sanyo. Now I got to read through these 500+ posts to figure out how to get a rebate on a purchase made over a month ago and one week past the mail-in deadline. While I'm reading hopefully I'll get some encouragement about receiving a Sanyno instead of the Plextor.

Anyboy know how to get a tracking number? Their page doesn't give it, I paid for 2-day fedex, that's all it says on the confirmation page. Can you say "one led, one led", shipped yesterday hopefully wil get it tomorrow. Man this thread is looooooong!!

Nutzo, et al: All the shipment notices say all drives ordered were shipped. Unfortunately they actually only ship/bill one. I think that is why some people reported they were getting all the drives they ordered. I ask that anyone who physically has more than one drive from a single order, please post the order number for the rest of us to use as leverage. TIA
