Oh yeah, CompUSA is the KING of Bait & Switch. They NEVER have sale items in stock - I don't understand how they continue to get away with it. Here in New York, stories pop up on the news every once in a while about the consumer affairs dept. rightfully busting some sleazy independent electronics stores for exactly the same sort of thing, but they never go after the big chains. Maybe they're under the impression that the major retailers always play by the rules so they don't bother to check, I don't know, but I wish they would slap CompUSA with some hefty fines because they really deserve it.

Put me on hold, tranfer me back and forth and back to where I start. The guy I talk to very rule, I ask for phone # where I can call check for status of the order, the guys wouldn't give me and said he can only tranfer me there.

on these orders till they show some kind of decent response. My 2 cents.

Note they have to RECEIVE the rebate paperwork by Jan 31st, not be *postmarked* by the 31st like most other rebates.

You guys really gotta READ sometimes. PotatoBBQ is looking for the rabate that is from 12/30/2000 to 3/31/2001. He even put it in bold. Yet, people still seem to post the rabate from 1/1/2001 to 3/31/2001 or the rebate ending 12/31/200. PLEASE POST THE REBATE FROM 12/30/00 or 12/31/00 to 3/13/01. Thank you

I got a tracking number and supposedly my three were mailed Fedex (2nd Day). So, I might get it tomorrow if Fedex runs on MLK Day.

The only thing that concerns me is if CompUSA ships the drives with the 12/30 or 12/31 order date, will the first rebate be expired. CompUSA says no, but we'll see. Either way, $129 is still a great price for this drive, and I would have ordered it even without the extra $30 rebate.

This is so true. I live in Seattle, and there's like four different CompUSA's within a 30 minute drive from me. All of them practice bait-and-switch on a regular basis. Any time there's a good sale in their ad, each store will only sell like 5 to 10 of the item before they go &quot;out of stock&quot;.

When you stand in line for 45 minutes to ask for a raincheck, they refuse to give it to you. They say they don't know if they'll be getting any more of that product in. Yet, there always seems to be plenty on the shelf the week after the sale ends. :|

Every time! How can they get away with this? I guess maybe the same way they get away with such horrible customer service. Try asking one the fools they hire a question, and they'll look annoyed, and then give you bad information. I swear, I've never met a reasonably knowledgable CompUSA CSR.

Oh well, I'm sure it will catch up with them. It's simply bad business to alienate your customers, and CompUSA's been working fervently on that task for years.

BTW, I think it's cool that the mods are allowing this thread to stay open. There are a lot of people that ordered this drive, and this is the best place to get info

I have the rebate that is from 12/30 through 3/31. It is not an online link, it is a physical form.

I can scan one in once I get the appropriate drivers for my HP Scanner (should be here soon).

My friend and I both got our drives. They were out of stock on the day of the sale (we didn't show up until 1:00pm), but we got rain checks and our drives came in within one week!

Hopefully you all will get yours - this drive rocks!

My order shows it was placed on 12/31 at 1:03 am (Comp USA time), so I should be one of the eariest orders shipped, assuming they do it in order.

I just got off the phone &amp; they gave me the run-around. They couldn't tell if or when they would get them in stock. When I complained that the local stores seem to have plenty of stock now, they told me to cancel my order &amp; buy it locally at full price!

I am first on the list at a local compusa in san francisco. I never got a call yet, and its been 2 weeks. they claim they were getting 10, so they did a prepay. as of now, they have my money, and I don't have a drive. I am sure they have it. they are just being bitches

After tons of calls and personally speaking with reps from my local store.... I managed to get one at the $129 price at my local store. It works great, and I'm finally happy.



Isn't it strange though that they were claiming that their stock is totally separate (online and B&amp;M), but they advertise that you may return products purchased online to a B&amp;M store. hmmmm....

potato,compusa in baton rouge la. had plenty of the 12/30/00 to 03/31/01 rebate forms on the 2 days of the sale.went there today and couldn't find a one and no employee at the store wanted to discuss it either.said they had enough of iomega. store had the 12x10x32's in stock at $279.99 bucks a piece.as far as i know this store did not give out rain checks on this sale or any other sale.correct me if i am wrong on this about rainchecks at this store in particular.
