CompUSA Zip CD-RW status update from Compusa

Just my opinion on this compusa fiasco. I did the same thing most of you did, I thought I had a great deal when I ordered about 12:01 easter standard time that night for the drive. However, after 3 weeks of no replies from compusa, I called and got the response most of you are getting. Eventually I cancelled my order and this is the reason why.

1. Compusa's support is useless.
2. We are paying with taxes and shipping will be about $107+$5=$112 which is not bad (we still need to play around with the firmware).
3. If you went the TDK route from buy.com, which is a better drive, then you will end up paying for about $141 plus the Nero and music match software (a lot better than easy cd creator).

Perhaps, We should write a complaint letter to compusa headquarter on behalf of thousands (the more the better) of disgruntled online customers.

I was about to go to compusa 70 miles away about 8am when I learned it's available online and it was damn cold and snowing; i thought I was not gonna risk my life for this hot deal.\

They seem to encourage us to cancel by playing this hide online stock but show B&M stock. I am gonna play this chicken sh*t game along until the end of the month. If compusa.com still hide their stock under their ass at the end of the month, I am gonna write complaint to some computer magazines about this shenanigan.

We can flood comments on resellersrating.com, too.

These may not accomplish anything, but I expect a large corporation like compusa to have more class and courtesy. Or maybe I am wrong?

I was emailing someone who was going to sell me his drive when it came in and he just told me that his order just got cancelled by CompUSA...one step closer to the inevitable.

And CUSA is sick of iomega??? Yah! Like its iomega's fault they ran a sale and took hundreds of orders they could/would not fill. All I can hope right now is that they are intentionally delaying/waiting this out to see how many people cancel their orders so they will lose less money on this whole thing. But maybe, eventually, those who hang in there will get one.

But if this business about them cancelling people's orders is correct, i fear we are all screwed.

I just got off the phone with some jabroni at the CompUSA 800 number. He says it will take another 2 weeks. I ordered on midnight on the 1/31. This is ridiculous.

I ordered relatively late, I think, around 2 pm on the Sunday, but my order still went through and got the backorder status some days later. But do you guys really think we won't get our CDRws? It shouldn't be more than a matter of time, though if more than a month passes from now, I'll be rather miffed.

I called CompUSA today and spoke to a CSR and he said there were only 27 on back order and that I was one of the 27... This doesn't seem right, I would think more there would be a lot more than 27, not to mention I ordered on 12/31/2000 2:18:06 PM. Maybe all the orders before me were just filled? As far as ETA he said he couldn't give me any ETA except that they get two shipments a day and it could be in either of them at any time.

I was going to buy the Plextor from Amazon with my $150 MCI GC and the $50 off coupon, but it went out of stock the day before my GC came in the mail and hasn't been back in stock since. Now I'm stuck waiting for CompUSA to quit twiddling their thumbs and ship my Iomega. If they're really sending out orders everyday then many of the people here must've gotten theirs already, right?

For those of you that actually received their compusa order, when did you place your order? My email confirmation was: 12/30/00 10:47:06 PM Pacific Standard Time
and my order status is backordered.

My email says 11:17 PST, and I'm still backordered.

The actual order says Date: 12/31/2000 1:03:09 AM
which I assume is Central time.

I find it VERY hard to belive that they only have 27 on backorder, unless they only intend to fill 27 orders and are not counting the rest.

Ok, I got a question. Has ANYBODY that placed their order ONLINE gotten theirs yet? It seems like they shoulda had at least a few hundred in stock for ONLINE orders regardless of the quantity at each B&M. I placed mine around 10am and it still says backordered.

I placed my order at about 12:30am Central, and haven't gotten anything but the mass mailing that they sent out. I just reamed them in the bizrate review that I was waiting to fill out, if that means anything to them! It's good to hear the status of everyone else's orders here, please keep the thread going until CompUSA cancels all these orders or delivers!

Yeah, I find it almost impossible that there could be only 27 back ordered, but that's what the CSR told me... I even asked again thinking maybe he meant 127 but he said 27. I don't know what's going on though but he was very adamant that I would actually get the drive but that it's just a matter of time. I don't know what to believe but 27 seems way too low. Anyone else call and ask how many were actually back ordered?

Just blasted these clowns on resellerratings.com. The only reason I ordered online is it was available online after midnight (actually around 1:00am when I placed it). We were balls deep in a major snowstorm that night so driving the 30 some miles to the B&M seemed kinda risky. If they never planned on filling online orders they should have never taken them. They also should have never done anything with the credit cards, which they did. Just seems really shady they way they do business.

BTW, since then I have learned that our store had 2 drives on the shelf at opening. Most where purchased by an employee's father early Saturday and sold on fleabay...So maybe it wasn't everyone on these deal forums doing the fleabay deal.

This sucks. I have someone that will buy my 1 1/2 month old Plextor 8x4x32 for $110. This will be a rockin' deal for me if CompUSA will get off their asses and mail me my drive.

Someone above posted the the TDK drive is better than the Plextor. What is the reasoning behind this statement, except for the fact the the TDK drive MAY be in stock?

EDIT: By the way, it shows my order placed on 12/31/2000 at 11:50AM (central time, perhaps).

they should have never listed as in stock if THEY DIDN'T AHVE ANY IN STOCK!

I am quitting crappie compusa deal and going for $131 (after coupon and rebate) TDK velocd.

Even if they deliver, will we have time to file the rebate by 1/31?
Will we have to fight with the rebate joint? Man, that's another sh*t to worry about.

It's not worth my time. Hell with compusa.
