here is a twist i ordered mine at 12:50 am. but i havent recieved any emails at all. i type in the order # and it says backordered. i just tried logging into my account on compusa website and it says i have no orders pending and never ordered. this place sucks. they keep telling me two weeks two weeks i think they have no clue and sold merchandise they didnt have. i would have went to the b&m but it is over a 100 miles away. if they didnt have it they shouldnt have advertised it to begin with. just my .02

The guys like CompUSA get away with the bait and switch, no raincheck, no order info, hide the stuff in the back, refuse to pricematch as advertised crap because we don't flood ftc.gov with the complaints, and instead just complain amongst ourselves.

The FTC people told me they move in when the volume of incidents gets high. They can and have hammered Dell, Iomega, etc and are hot on website scams. It helps keep everyone honest that way.

The internet is a big forum for attention getting, and nothing does it like a "mistake" that you can wipe away with fine print. The low price to get attention and hits and customers on an otherwise unnoticed e-commerce site is the latest Dartekish fad. "Oops we made a typo, sorry you're out of luck. Hey our sales storewide are up 50% this month!"

Stores ought to be responsible to make appropriate offers at their cost to customers they lured in with those "mistakes."

Cybershark - good idea. I added my comments to ResellerRatings.com too, and I will do the same at BizRate. I think everyone who has endured this kind of treatment from ComPUKE-S-A should consider doing the same.

Well, I got mine today via Fedex. The box had all three of the CD-RWs that I ordered. I've installed one here at home and it is great!!! Good luck with the rest of you ... I hope CompUSA comes through for you.

BTW, this was the first time I ordered online through CompUSA.

I just called CompUSA and inquired about my order. I was told that I would definately receive my Iomega drive, and I was "one of twenty-seven" listed as on back order. There cannot possibly be only 27 of these on back order. Thank God that I already have a burner, or this would be a real crappy situation to be in.

just got off the phone to corporate office. the guy i spoke with was ok at least. he said first the drives wont be in until 12/31 that is the full order. the order into iomega was 5000 units. i asked about a backorderlist and he said that whoever said that was wrong there are many many more that that. he told me to "hang in there" i wanted to kill him but he kept telling me now dont cancel i guess a lot of people are cancelling i am myself pondering this and thinking about going for the tdk.

Did you ask him about the rebate offer deadline?
Will Young America (the rebate processor) honor the rebate after 1/31 as
mentioned in the email?

If not, please give me the corporate office phone number.

he said they would honor the rebate but i trust him about as much as i trust that i will win the lottery tomorrow

Hey Mikie, I think he was using reverse psychology on you....yah right "hang in there." They have to be losing money hand over fist on this thing. They are probably dying for people to cancel.

Rebate deadline depends on the invoice date.
If it was by 12/31, then the deadline is 1/31
If it was 1/1 or beyond, then deadline 3/31

Someone mentioned about rebate form (on paper, not online) which is
good between 12/30 till 3/31. If you don't have this form, then pray that you get your drive a week before 1/31.

I'd be happy if I am wrong--that there is such a rebate online.

I called Compusa and the CSR also told me that I was one of the 27 people who will be getting them. Kinda hard to believe that nonsense.

they'll print up a receipt for the day the drive is shipped, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I know this thread is dragging on but..... I just checked my order status online again. Ever since I first placed the order it would still say backordered but "usually ships in 24 hours". Just tonight they updated it to "usually ships in 72 hours". Can the end be near???????

I hope the 72 hour thing means it will be over.

My HP burner is making awful noises. Hope it lasts til this one shows up!!

Don't get your hopes upyet I think they just changed something in thier database.

The ZipCD 12x4x32 Internal EIDE/ATAPI CD-RW Drive is in stock & says "usally ships in 72 hours" also.

I'll give them a few more days & then I'm going to rip them in the ratings & report them to the feds.

Has anyone else recieved thier order? Not that I don't believe Searchname, but I'd sure like to know when he ordered his drives.

My hopes were dashed the day I got the backorder email.

I won't cancel the order. I can wait until the next best deal comes.

I have learned not to stress over any of these deals. They either work or they don't.
