Computer Beeps at me.

Is there a site someone can go to that would decipher computer beeps?

Half the time I start my computer it beeps at me, kind of like - - - - - - - (beep, beep, beep, beep long pause beep pause beep pause beep) and won't start up. Sometimes it starts up but goes to a black screen giving me all sorts of error codes. Sometimes it starts up but hangs up on the NVRAM Update. It never stores my system specs so it always has to search for my HDD masters/slaves. And occasionally once it starts up I'll get a blue windows screen that says hardware failure, the system has been stopped, contact your hardware administrator.

I've had no problems for the last year and a half, but I tried reseatting my Ram anyway. Just not sure what other tests/parts I need to do/replace. Any help would be appreciated.

Try another single stick of memory. (by itself)

The beeps are "post" codes and can be deciphered using the BIOS Mfg's website.

Good Luck

probably.. memory.. take out all your sticks of memory.. and use only one and make sure it's in there perfectly.

Well, I was wrong, its not fixed. Started beeping at me 2 reboots after I posted. Its also been giving me an error screen :

I tried switching both RAM out to see if it was a bad stick, but it still beeps with either stick.

You're gonna have to do the memory stick shuffle (similar to the macarena)

You might have a bad stick or two, a bad slot or two or a bad memory controller all together. If you've got a single known-good stick from another computer it would help a ton in your troubleshooting.

(this is all assuming you've verified your beep codes aren't for video or something)

Swapped out video cards, swapped out Ram. Had to reboot 60 times this morning. The computer just doesn't wanna stay running. It hasn't beeped for awhile, but now I constantly get a blue screen that says -

"Hardware Failure

System Halted

Contact your Hardware provider"

I'm pulling out my hair here, do you think I'll be safe replacing the MoBo or will it just be a waste of money?

just my personal opinion, but if you have verified that the ram is good on another computer. i'd dump that particular motherboard. i've had nothing but bad luck with the k7s5a mbds that i've tried.
i'd reccomend the Soltek Motherboard for AMD Processors, NVIDIA nForce2 (IGP + MCP2), Model SL-75MRN-L Retail for $99 if you need ok built in video
or the Leadtek Motherboard for AMD Athlon/XP and Duron Processors, Model# Winfast K7NCR18D for $85 if you already have a better video card than the gf4mx built in graphics.
good luck

Hard to figure out if you ever tried another new stick of memory.

You should be able to boot your motherboard successfully with just this connected to it:

1) CPU and fan
2) one stick of known good (compatible) memory
3) video card
4) power supply
5) front panel switch (power)

Everything else can be disconnected including all drives (both power and IDE cables)

If you still get multiple post beeps (one is normal), then you've either got a bad motherboard, memory, power supply or video card.
