So if it crashes again i'll run it to find out.

K....if it helps, what I am getting is you are on autpilot rush. Slow down, be here this moment. This ain about getting the ball into the end zone....or, re my sport, crashing the boards. Even if the ref don call it, offensive fouls hurt us.

Right now it is for me, i've got a full time job, doing IT consulting work almost every night and weekend.

And never had a PC give me so many issues, just trying to run windows update.

I eventually got Win7 SP1 installed but now further updates are not installing correctly.

At this stage I think the OS Win7 Ult is somehow corrupted in the install file itself

I have Win7 Pro N and Win7 Pro, so i think i'm just going to wipe for the 3rd time and try that.

I should have been done with updates 4 days ago now.

Wow. Cept u not helping anything, starting with you....biting off half a cow and trying to chew it. (I jsut cracked myself up.)

Not sure wut Win7 N is....but you may well have had corrupt files in the installation you did. I too would wipe the Seagate and start over with a file you know for sure is sound.

Pls stop overloading yrself! Bad for yr health and happiness.

Yeah but something I need to do to get back in IT full time, wont be forever.

And wouldn't you know it. My PC is no longer responding to remote desktop... i'm now wondering if the motherboard has an issue.

As I have two internet connections going into my computer, both wifi and RJ45, it would have rolled over to one if the other failed.

But then again perhaps this is just systematic of a bad windows install.

K...GOOD re not forever!

I got early on U have paranoia re the board. Unless U got it at a yard sale, my take is that's not the problem.

I would try only one....I would try just the ethernet alone.

Yes, it does now seem U have a corrupt W7 installation. U should start over and, with a file that is healthy. At least that, I think is what we need to rule out or in now.

Remember, PMS is part of life....metaphorically, including both genders. U will get to the bottom of this!!!

is this the only drive you got on.or do you have a ssd beside this one????

I believe it's his only one....and he says it's brand new. He said that after I felt he should run diagnostics on the drive. Course, I once got a WD on Newegg that had so many bad sectors WD could not count them.

Assuming it's his only drive, U think he should still test it even tho it's new?

if the dump file is clean you have a hardware problem. my bet is on psu. do you have a spare one just to rule that out?
memory will usually give you a bsod. try to unplug everything you don't need.

Ok yeah thats the only drive right now, i have another new identical one i'll put in after.

So I replaced the WIN7 ULT with WIN7 Pro and the install went perfectly, no memory errors and the updates are working fine, SP1 installed fine, still having an issue with one small update, but i believe thats M$ fault more than anything.

I did still last night get into ANOTHER boot loop and only way to fix it is to reset the cmos.

So i'm now really thinking its the motherboard. Its a random issue, i know how to fix it but who the fuck knows.

I'll just get a new mobo next month i guess.

I'm very sure its not anything else at this stage, everything else has been replaced since i first posted this post, its the only thing left.

Good. Yes, corrupt installation file first go round.

It was a used one on ebay (hangs head in shame).

Could it possibly be the case doing it like a fault with the power switch maybe?

Dunno.....is the case new or old? Did U test the switch? R the wires going to it intact? Is everything connecting?

We got it was PSU issue long ago....combined with old power hungry GPU, he replaced the PSU with a new one, also the GPU. There was more than one issue manifesting here re hardware and software.....still need to get clearer on the former more.

Well i went on the Corsair website and it seems my memory is not supported by my motherboard.

According to corsairs website, no 8gb memory module is supported, and i have two installed.

This could very well be the issue.

I cant find a compatibility section on MSI's website to verify it though.

Yr board is out of stock on Newegg, but clearly says re RAM:
DDR3 2667(OC)/ 2400(OC)
And we get most RAM is backward compatible.

If wut Legohouse says is correct, your sticks should work, tho they are at the low end.

my memory is corsair though

it did read it and see the memory

Don matter! The Crucial scan will give info on the specifics of the ram that is compatible.....completely apart from brand.

Wut clock speed did they say in their recommendation? And what else did they say re specific of installation?

It was a used one on ebay (hangs head in shame).

Listen, no shame! I have gotten many used pulls on eBay, for me and those whose systems I fix.... and never once had a problem.

But...was yours a TESTED PULL? From a reliable vendor with excellent feedback?

Gotta develop discernment re when it is just fine to buy used and when it is penny wise, pound foolish. I buy used a lot....only ONCE had a problem with two sticks on ebay. They both died, but months after my installing them.

And, I once got a good WD spinner on Newegg.....it had so many bad sectors WD diagnostics could not count them. But, WD replaced it with a fully tested one. WD said they can only test randomly. But, whole thing was still a pain.

Now glad I asked re the board. I thought it was new.

The seller has over 20000 score with almost 100% positive, i told him about the board and he is willing to work with me.

But now i'm still considering the memory being the issue. The crucial test didn't really say too much to be honest. I'll run it again now and look closer at the results, it basically just listed my pc devices last time though
