Computer coming out of sleep

I am not sure what is going on and not sure this is posted in the correct section, but here goes. Something is bringing my PC out of sleep mode and I cant for the life of me figure it out. It doesn't do it all the time, but today it has been pretty much non stop. If I unplug my cable from my wireless router, then it stays in sleep mode. I have scanned for viruses, malware etc, still don't know what is going on, its never happened with any other system I have built.

The article is for Windows 7 but the commands should more or less be the same for 8 and 10

Though I didn't read the article, I have considered that. As of typing this the only update is an optional one.

No, there are several tasks in task scheduler for Windows Update that check for updates, display notifications, etc. I bet it is one of those tasks - the great part is that you can change the setting for it to wake the PC and it won't stay disabled, so I finally deleted it. Anyway, use the command line in the article and it will tell you exactly what is waking the PC up.

Swapped my Ethernet cable, still came out of sleep, just did a driver update, it didn't come out of sleep, fingers crossed that was it.

Sounds like something is sending packets over the LAN to wake the PC, so if you don't need Wake on LAN then disable it.

There were a bunch of things in that section to disable, I unchecked them all since I didn't know which you meant should be disabled.

Device Manager > Network Adapters > "Your Adapter" Properties > Advanced > Wake on Magic Packet > Disable

Start with that.

I disabled them all under wake on lan, so far it seems to have fixed it, so thanks everyone. Knock on wood.
