Computer crashes PUHLEEEZE HELP ME!!!

My system crashes consistently on games. I tried to run Prime95 to test my memory, thinking it was bad, and Prime95 crashes within about 10 minutes every time. I use corsair value 2.5 3 3 8 and thought it was okay. I also have a Xconnect 500 watt power supply. I can't think anything else would be causing the issue. I am begging someone to help me fix this, as it is a brand new computer!!!

run memtest to test the memory....Run the dos version that boots up from the desk...this will help to isolate the memoruy...

Are you ocing anything else??? Set eveything to auto or defualt and see if the problem persist...

Nothing is overclocked. I thought Prime95 was a memory test, is it not? I did change the setting to auto in the memory area...

Prime95 has 3 test in the newer versions...small FFT test ram a little....Large FFT test virtually no ram....Blended will test ram but not thoroughly or well...

Then there is the issue that most windo\ws based ram testers can only test ram that is not currently being used...not thorough...

You need to dowload the iso for making a bootable cd version...go into bios and set bootup priority to CD-rom and retsart with disc in cd or dvd tray....If it is falky as it seems and related to memory it should get errors soon and frequently ithin the first pass...let iot run for 10 passes....


The other thing it could be a few things..list the rest of your specs....It could be heat and it could be power issue....gaming and prime can both load the system quite well...

I have an AMD 64 3200 venice
1 gig ram
120 gig hd
cd rom
dvd
win xp most recent build
Asus A8V deluxe agp mobo
Nvidia gforce 6800 gt

nothing is overclocked and the hottest the cpu ever gets is about 90 degrees F (4 fans)
The power supply is a Xconnect 500 watt unit, and I have heard sketchy things about it.

By the way, I should mention that when I run tests like Aquamark 3 I get 60,000 plus points and 3dMark05 I get 4600-4800. My system does NOT lock up when I run these tests....It's only when I am playing games...

Use the Auto setting on the ram and test again. What's the 12v rail on your power supply rated at (how many amps can it handle?)?

34A on the 12V rail, so PSU is not his problem. Make sure you're running the latest bios from asus. Look in BIOS for something like "Fail safe defaults" and load those. Run memtest.
