Hi everyone,
Just a quick question about a small problem I'm having with my new PC (put together myself, not pre-built). The problem is, where ever I am, from exiting BIOS, to a program asking to restart after installation, or even restarting the computer myself, it won't do a full restart. Instead what happens is, after Windows says Saving settings, then Shutting down, the screen goes black and will just idle for about 5-8 seconds, then the monitor turns off and the PC will still be running (fans/power led on etc). I know it's not stand-by since I've tried hitting keys, moving the mouse, turning the monitor off and on and hitting the power button, but it just sits there. Also because when I did put the computer in stand-by the power leds flashes until you hit the power button again. Now what I do once it is just sitting there idling is press the restart button on my case in which it then does perform a normal restart in which in the screen comes on and the computer starts to boot. My computer specs are as follows:
OS: XP Pro SP2
CPU: Intel E6600
Motherboard: ASUS P5N32-E SLI Plus (0603 BIOS as default, have not changed)
GPU: 8800GTX
Memory: 2 x 1GB Corsair PC6400
Hard Drives: 2 x 80GB Seagate SATA II (in RAID 0) & 1 x 750GB Seagate SATA II
Any advice or help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Eddie.
EDIT: I have found the problem and fixed it. What I had to do was change the LDT Timing in the BIOS from 5x to 4x and it worked.
