i recently put in a new motherboard/cpu combo. My new rig, Abit VP6 w/ dual P3s @ 933 is crashing or freezing up on me when i do things like games or watch DVDs. I dont know what the problem is but it must have to do the with mobo or some conflict. I doubt its the OS or anything cause I wiped my HD and reinstalled and then got the newest updates for windows etc. Im sure its not cooling because ive got dual Hedgehogs w/ black label Deltas on them. I just updated the VIA 4 in 1 drivers and the newest video drivers from Nvidia. The rest of my rig is on the Rig link and any help would be greatly appreciated

My first thought would be a lack of juice from the power supply..You have a higher-wattage one to try?

Couldn't say for sure that you really NEED more than that, But I once had an A7V that exhibited the same problems you are having at anything above 950mhz with a 300w PSU. Crashes/Freezes. Got a 350 watter and all was solved. May not really be your problem, just an idea though.

Ive tried running the two P3s at 700 and I still get the freeze ups. They used to occur very often until I updated the Video Drivers. But it still happens sometimes. Like the other night when i was playing RTCW. I got ticked cause I never saved it. Any other input anyone? Help me please...

i found my problem. it was the VIA drivers. when I installed them they didnt take the place of the Microsoft Drivers. I had to go and manually update each one. oh well i guess. I fixed it at least.

ok.... i was wrong.... that solved the problem for oh 15 minutes.... i think i have come to determine that it is the OpenGL drivers for the video card and i think somehow it has to do with conflicts with the motherboard has anyone ever heard of this happening?

I'd start with raising the cpu voltage a bit. Try 1.9 and watch the temps. I had random freezes with my setup and that cured it. Also make sure your memory timing is set to 'by spd' while troubleshooting.

one problem, my mobo will only go to 1.85 for the voltage..... i think it has to do with OpenGL stuff but then again i could be wrong. It may have to do with some other conflicts. I would like to hear any input i can. thanx to all...

Try and reinstall the Via drivers. IF it asks if you ant 'turbo' vgart drivers, choose no....this from back in the via mp3 days and still why I'll never buy a via chipset mb!
