I don't know if you are reading my threads but I just had the same problem with BFBC2 and resolved it by disabling the onboard Realtek sound device. You can do this in Device Manager and hit the Sound Video and Game Controllers button, then disable any onboard sound device. Keep in mind that in order to play other games, you will need to re enable this sound device temporarily but then disable it for BFBC2. I would suggest you buy a sound card.

Here is a link to a user having a similar issue, it's only BFBC2 specific I think:

http://www.fragtheplanet.com/832/bat...c-crashfreeze/

It says the thread no longer exists or has been moved. I realized that I have an old Yamaha sound card in a PCI slot which is not recognized by win7, but I use it with my winXP boot for sound recording. Maybe this is interfering? So your suggesting i disable all sound and play this game (and others) through a new sound card if I want to have audio?

I am using an OCZ GameXstream 700W as posted. I bought it brand new about 5-6 months ago. How do I check if its outputting properly?

This link works.

Yes disable your sound card, which ever you are using. But enable it to play other games as they won't run without the sound card enabled. BFBC2 will run without the sound card.

THINGS I HAVE TRIED (that dont fix it):
- Memtest / OCCT / IntelBurnTest (30sec) All without no errors
- Defragmenting drive
- Removed old Yamaha soundcard (unrecognized in win7)
- Stock clock settings for CPU and RAM
- Overclocking the CPU to many different FSB aswell as voltages
- Tried different RAM timings, freq, and voltages
- Different video card drivers right up to the newest
-

WHAT I HAVEN'T YET TRIED (hope to soon if possible):

- Running windows 7 off of a different SATA HDD thats not Caviar Green
- Updating my BIOS
- Reformatting
- Stress tests (full periods of time on recommended programs)
- Testing my video card on a different computer with Bad Company 2
- Disabling my sound device (SoundMax) in device manager

All the problems you have is with Battlefield series. Am I correct?

I only play BF2 and that freeze on me with looping sound. You probably have the same problem as I do. It's the onboard sound that's causing the freezing.

I lowered my sound settings on bf2 and the freeze happen less frequently.

This has happened in a game called "Perfect World" and has also happened in Vegas 9.0 (video editing program) as I recall. I will try disabling the sound now.

I should also mention: Everytime I change a BIOS setting such as vcore, fsb, or RAM settings and restart my computer turns off for about 3 seconds than back on and boots up. If I shut off the power supply switch or plug the power cord out and back in my computer will turn on when I press the power button than shut off after 2 seconds and back on again after 3 seconds approx. and boot up properly. This only happens if I change a bios settings and everytime i completely remove the power from the computer. Whats this mean?

STILL FREEZING! I tried playing with headphones and setting both the control panel and ingame settings to headphones but it still freezes after a few hours or so.
I have played a few hours with the soundcard disabled without a freeze so far.

My friend installed Win7 with the same dvd I used and experienced these freezes right after he installed a Win7 crack (genuine/liscense crack). He claims that he hasnt had a single freeze after using only headphones while they returned soon as he used speakers. (not my case).

--> Once a freeze occurs it will continuously freeze right away (within 5-10seconds) of joining an online game. (Happens in Call of Duty 4 also). This pattern will reset once the computer is turned off totally (power supply switch).

However when I restart it, I get a windows error report claiming it was a BlueScreen and gives some info on it with .dmp file and .sysdata
Can anyone still help me out here? Or do you think this problem may just be the soundcard conflicting?

I had the same problem with my Windows 7 64 bit installation and Battlefield 2 where the game would cause the computer to freeze completely with a fast repeating buzzing sound. I had no problems at first with Windows 7 but then one day I enabled the US landscape theme and set it to automatically change the desktop background image every 5 or 10 minutes. This is when the freezing during game play started to occur.

The solution was to simply change the them back to the default windows 7 aero them with the windows logo in the middle. Ever since, no more freezing. I played BF2 for an hour straight with no problems, where as before I couldn't last for more than 10 minutes before I had to hard reboot my system. It took me a while to figure this out so I hope this helps.

I had this exact problem, and think I am having it again.

Sound hangs like a buzzer, and video freezes. Ctr-alt-del stop working, hard reset is the only thing that works. It happens in all games as soon as the GPU is loaded a bit.

The PowerSupplyUnit was the villain last time, going to replace it now.
