My computer has been randomly freezing (I just have to hit the reset button) randomly. I'm usually just using Winamp and chatting on AIM when it happens. It's got an Athlon XP 2600ish (runs at like 47 celcius). It's not dusty (just cleaned it today, still freezing). The power supply is generic, but I tested it using a power supply tester and it looks perfect.
The only thing I think left is either spyware (adaware and spybot, didn't stop freezing), or memory.
When I use memtest, it doesn't do anything. It shows my system info in the upper left, and says this in the middle of the screen:
76K e820-std Sff
But does NOTHING. (blinking curser in bottom left).
However, I tried putting in some DDR from my other system instead (and removing the current memory). And memtest still does the same thing.
I'm stumped, what could be causing this freezing? (would like to try everything before formatting)
