Computer freezes while gaming, sound usually keeps going.

I have sought help from a few forums now with little success.
AMD FX-4100 @ 3.6GHZ 8gb 1300 DDR3 ram. Radeon 6850 HIS
630 watt Raidmax Windows 8

Temps are stable in the 40s while gaming.
Ran prime 95 for hours multiple times
Ran fur mark 3 times
Ran fur mark and prime 95 at the same time

Did a quick run of mem test, should do another.
Formatted hard drive and reinstalled windows 8
made sure I have newest drivers

The problem is as followed: When I play games like Mount and blade, star wars knights of the old republic and left for dead 2, my computer randomly freezes often with random color lines and music still playing.

It never freezes during other use (this problem has been ongoing since october) but recently im noticing weird stuttering during videos and sound slowdown for brief moments.

Most people suspect the PSU, but how could it last during prime 95 and fur mark but not a 10 year old game?

Also, my most played game league of legends, hundreds of hours played has only caused a freeze once with everything turned up to max.

I'm dumbfounded.

I suspect the Powersupply too...

You ask how could if last during Prime 95 and Furmark, but not a 10 year old game.

I would be led to believe Prime 95 is a CPU intensive program, while Furmark is a GPU intensive program. Try to find something that stresses both CPU and GPU at the same time so the max electrical load can be seen on the powersupply... then see if it still passes.

Realize, the powersupply is the backbone of your system, and Raidmax is basically low level stuff I wouldn't trust on my kid's computers.

What exactly would be passing? I have no clue about the electrical aspect of computers. Also I did run prime 95 and fur mark at the same time to try and put the power supply under stress and it didn't crash. When im playing the game can crash in 5 minutes.

FX-4100 = 226 watts at load

455 watts so far without calculating any USB ports, fans, other cards, harddrives, optical drives, etc. Coming off a 630 watt Raidmax powersupply, which is probably not a bronze level p.s. would probably lead me to believe you are at the threshold of what it can handle.

It could very well be a PSU issue, but there's no way that card or that CPU are pulling consistent full-spec loads running those games. Even without a bronze certified PSU, with the errors he's seeing i'd first suspect the video card. It either needs the drivers reinstalled, or it's a dud card. There's tons of reports of cards passing gold standard runs of OCCT/Furmark and failing hard when running actual games, usually it's an unstable OC or a card that needs to be RMAed.

I'd swap out the PSU and the video card one at a time to see if it makes a difference.
