Over the past 4 years the Gateway Dx4300-15e, has been used to stream video around 8 hours day, everyday.

I cleaned the computer by removing the heatsink and using an air can to clean the dust and apply new paste.

When it froze, I noticed colors lines along the screen; picture included. The speaker was making a buzzing sound.

I didn't see any blown capacitor on the motherboard.

I also went in to Windows 7 event viewer and these are what I saw.

The system event viewer is telling you that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is disabled. It wouldn't necessarily be the cause of your computer freezing unless you are seeing direct correlation between the start of these messages and the start of the issue. If you double click the event, it will give you more information about the issue.

This would be better if we have some time correlation /more information here:
Did this issue start before or after you cleaned off the heatsink?
Has it always done this?
How it the data feeding to the screen? Is it going through the network or is it coming from a device directly attached to the PC?
Can you do anything with Windows when the stream is frozen?

Thank your for your response and I apologize for my delayed response.

Issue started before cleaning the heat sink. It seems only happen while streaming flash video from a particular website. The computer is using a WiFi connection, and has a standard hard disk drive. My only option is to press and hold the power button; there are no reset button.

Today it seemed a useful error message came up, for the first time. I don't use the computer.
There is only one hard drive with 3 different partition; I created the 3rd for "back ups".

2 Errors in image:
A hyper transport link has failed
CMOS checksum bad

It seems replacing CMOS may be the first step. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Replacing the battery (for the CMOS), which I think/assume you meant there, may solve ALL your problems.

Your bios should be able to tell you what the battery voltage is at the moment, on one of the screens (Hardware monitor or something, depending on bios type/version). (A new/good battery would be about 3.6/3.7 Volts). (I would guess that anything below about 3 volts, is getting TOO LOW).

The battery could have got knocked or un-seated, when you cleaned it ?
