Hey there, my computer is an i7 and I have a gaming case as well. It always generated heat for a while now so my solution is to move the desktop itself into a closet in the hallway outside of the room its in. Basically i'm thinking about buying a usb extension cable then a hub and keeping my desk, keyboard/mouse and monitors in the room but moving the desktop out of it.
Do you guys think that's a good idea? The computer would be on the other side of a bedroom wall in a closet, outside of that closet is a very wide open room. Most of my heat is generating from the computer itself correct and not the monitors? The A/C can't even keep the room cool with the computer in it.
So basically what I need help with is finding a good USB hub that supplies it's own power because I could have a power surge if I use a regular cheap one correct? Also will there be an issue connecting a hub to a usb extension cable, then that to the computer? I also need to use 2x 25ft vga cables and run those out of the room.
What do you guys think? I don't think there's an easier way to get rid of the heat. I might as well use the computer as a heater for the big wide open room rather than the heat being all trapped in a small room.
Edit: How is this for some parts? What I'm using on the hub will be my keyboard, mouse and webcam and possibly something else in the future. My only worry is a hub won't be able to support all of these things at once.
