I have a thunderbird 1.2ghz (266 bus) on a IWILL ka-266-r. I just got everything installed and nothing is showing up on the monitor. I already tried 2 different monitors and 2 different video cards. The system seems like its working (CD-Rom drive light turns on for a few seconds), seems to access HD, but I cant get the video to show up @ all...someone help!!

Bad AGP(PCI?) slot on the board? Not even getting the "No signal" message on the monitor?

what sort of cable are you talking about? Would this cause my monitor to show nothing rather than an error?

Just some thoughts

May want to make sure the cpu die didn't get cracked whe the heatsink was installed. Also, if you know someone that has one you can borrow, try swapping out the cpu with a known good one.

I'm not familiar with that particular MB - are there any jumpers to set the multiplier/FSB?

are you getting a bios screen? if you arent try re-seating your cpu/hsf better. also try changing out your ps with a bigger one. those are a few problems i encountered with my duron system. abit motherboard though. just check it and see if those are problems. it might just be!

I cant see ANYTHING on my screen. Should i be able to see the cracked core on the CPU? I cleared off the artic silver and there werent any signs of chipping or whatever. Anything else? Any other suggestions? I got a 300w antec PS so that should be enough.

Yeah your PS should be plenty. Looks like your cpu is not chipped up so that's cool.

Hmmm...what about your case led, power, reset, hdd light cable connections..are they connected correctly to the MB?

I just had the very same problem and it turned out to be the RAM. If the RAM doesn't immediatelly refresh when the power is turned on then nothing will happen with the machine at all. Try another stick of RAM, well I guess that might be hard since you are running DDR. If you have more than one stick try each one individually to see if the computer will boot. If your mobo also accepts SDRAM then try a stick of this. I think it is either the RAM or the mobo, but I'd bet on the RAM.

I had one do that to me when I replaced a MB....The jumpers were set wrong, and it wasn't seeing the RAM....
