When I built my computer (see sig), I felt like it should only be proper to dine on traditional computer nerd fare. I went out and bought a bowl of microwave ramen noodles.

I want to bounce this off the nerds (this being defined as anyone who can build their own computer) of Anandtech.

Which is the proper computer nerd food that should be eaten either during gaming sessions or building your system?

I put Taco Bell and ramen in the poll, feel free to offer other suggestions.

I don't eat when building a computer. It's not all that big a job that you need nourishment halfway through and crumbs or greasy fingers are best left out of the process.

For gaming sessions neither Taco Bell nor ramen are suitable. Stick to Doritos and Mountain Dew and save the real food for when you're neffing.

You know there's GOOD ramen out there right? Like $9 a bowl Ramen that honestly beats the living crap of GOOD Pho? And I work next to the Vietnamese capital in CA (San Jose), and trust me there's good Ramen out there that will demolish Pho.

But too bad most people think of ramen as cup and noodles.... sigh. BTW, Ramen in Chinese literally means pulled noodles... or hand pulled noodles. That evolved into packaged noodles and then really just instant noodles in the US. In Japan, ramen is like pho in Vietnam. It is their signature dish. It's not some cheap crap "add-water" junk.

Heh yep.

Me and my friends would on now very rare occasion have a small lan party.
We'd make a grocery store run and stock up on delicious foodstuffs. Pizza and random 'real' food items to eat while watching tv or something, and everyone would get some kind of energy drink or 12pk of pop, though I always just got a 2L of mountain dew or something.
And of course, the munchies for snacking through the night. Lots of chips and/or candy.

And of course, someone always got Dr. Pepper (Pibb if we could find it) and someone else would get a big tub of Red Vines.
mmm

Although I'm not a fan of Mountain Dew, it's def the official drink of "computer nerds" everywhere.

QFT I know this ooooooldschool programmer, like Fortran days old. He drinks a 12 pack of Dew every day and has been doing so since the late 70's. He claims to have drank over 100,000 cans in his lifetime. I salute him, and he definitely should get some sort of lifetime nerd achievement award for this accomplishment. I can't imagine 100k cans of Dew as being good for your body. Still a great feat though.

and mountain dew.

personally, i would rather eat real food than junk food while im both messing with hardware or playing games. for the most part i dont eat at all until i stop working or playing anyway, so its really a moot point.

I dont know what the rest of you nerds eat, but I hate Ramen. If I wanted easy noodles I go for the Lipton bags of soup.

Taco Bell is alright, but even better is 7-11.
Nachos, hot dogs, taquitos, pizza, chicken, potato wedges, and more. And do we really need to discuss the awesomeness of Slurpees? Seriously you guys, WTF?

I just don't trust gas station food. I've had it maybe once or twice in rural areas during late night road trips when nothing else was around. But I just don't trust it.

Straight up nerd food is junk food and caffeinated drinks, not ramen.

Though I prefer not to eat much if I'm doing anything that requires my attention. Just like to drink coffee or tea.
