Computer not booting....HELP

My computer, which I built last year and has been working perfectly, suddenly will not boot at all. I tried restarting after installing some MP3 player software, and now the computer seems to stuck in the boot process. The computer powers up fine, fans spin, lights come on, etc, but there is no signal going to the monitor (i.e. the screen is black, controls indicate it's in power save mode). I have connected the monitor to my laptop and tested it and it works fine. I have checked all the connections in the box and everything looks fine, though I have noticed that (maybe) the HDD isn't spinning much after I power on (which I think it should during boot). Anyone have any ideas or a similar problem? I would greatly appreciate any help!

Thanks!

ASUS K8N-E delux
Athlon AMD 3400+
Raptor 74GB HDD
GeForce 6800GT OC
Antec TB power supply, 400W

You're going to have to take some components out - reset CMOS (a jumper on your board - find it in manual or go to manufacturer's webset and look it up in the manual). Sometimes you have to do quite a bit of experimenting to get the board back if it's possible.

I'd start by reseating the video card (take it out and put it back in). If that doesn't work then you should pull the cpu out and the ram and clear the CMOS.

Make sure you unplug the power cord to your power supply before you remove components, put them back in, or clear the CMOS. It should be the last thing you plug back in before you try to boot.

You might also want to unplug the power leads into your board from your power supply.

If all else fails then you should unplug everything from your board, pull it from the case and place it somewhere safe, and start with just the ram, video card, and keyboard.

Good luck!

OK, I did everything you suggested. Unplugged everything from the MOBO, cleared the CMOS, took out the CMOS battery. Still getting nothing. I cannot even get to the BIOS at this point. Everything powers, all looks fine, but NOTHING on the monitor. I have a Dell monitor, and when the monitor is plugged into the video card, the monitor seems to fall asleep (i.e. power save mode). When I unplug it, the monitor displays a "1: Analog input self test feature check" with four color bars. So, the monitor seems to be "on" when the thing isn't connected to the computer, but goes to sleep when it is.

I would like to just connect the monitor to the MOBO with the video card, but there is no connection to do that. How can that be done?

OK, bumping this thread and I wanted to add a few things in case someone has an idea. Been reading other threads all night and I do notice that

1) I get no beeps after I power up. I think I used to get one, but of course I wasn't paying attention.

2) Power is on, fans running, lights on, etc, but the keyboard is plugged in and no lights on it (caps lock, etc.) Is this a sign of a bad PSU?

I plan on getting a multimeter and testing my PSU asap. I am thinking now it's either that or the MOBO getting burned. I was installing some MP3 software, which finished and made me restart when all these problems began (Creative MuVo BTW).

Thoughts are greatly appreciated!
