I have a 1.5 year old computer.
Corsair vx550
e8400
8800gts 512
ep45-ud3p
4GB ddr2 800
2 HDDs
4 fans, card reader, combo disc drive
Recently it has been shutting down completely and suddenly when under load. Currently this has only happened when gaming. I cannot replicate the failure using prime95 or cpu burn programs, though the realtime HDR demo causes it. My temperatures are fairly reasonable at the moment of failure, e.g. 50c CPU, 80c GPU.
I first encountered the problem when I tried overclocking my CPU to 4.0GHz. I took off the overclock because I didn't want to bother trying to get it stable. However, a couple months later, this problem is resurfacing at stock clocks.
Is it reasonable to assume the PSU is at fault and try to get it replaced under warranty? I don't have any others I can test my parts with. Thanks for any help!
