Hello,

I have the Logitech X-530 speakers and since my home theather broke and I used my PC on the home theather when I had it, I want to know if my home theather speakers can be used with the logitech's subwoofer, the home theater speakers has two 100w speakers and three 33w speakers, they only have two wires at the end of the speakers, the logitech subwoofer has RCA inputs, what type of connectors are needed if I can use them.

Thanks.

They are not interchangeable without a amplifier. At that point, its not even worth it anymore.

Will the home theater speakers work if I buy a separate receiver for them or they were meant for my past home theater?

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, they should work.

Some things to keep in mind though:

Often cheap HTIB speakers will be pretty limited in performance (like poor bass extension) and may actually be an odd impedence (4-6 ohm is fairly common vs. the standard 8 ohm that low-end receivers are usually rated for). This is something you'd want to check out on the specs or tell us what you have so we can have a look.

Also, HTIB subs are often unpowered which means that your typical receiver you'd buy on your own will not be able to use it because they're meant to be used with powered subs. (Or an unpowered sub with a separate amplifier).

What's your budget for this project?

Here's some info

Hi,

My two front speakers are 100w and rated 8 ohms, the two rear are 33w and 8 ohms also, the center is 34w and 8 ohms and the subwoofer is 100w and 8 ohms also. link I am looking for a low budget receiver between $200-400

Thanks.

That's an unpowered subwoofer so you'd probably want to replace that too as it wouldn't work with most receivers you'd be looking at.

Unless you have plans to upgrade the speakers eventually, I think $400 is too much to be spending on a receiver for that set unless you NEED some of the features that come at that pricepoint (like audio processing of HD formats from Blu-Ray / HD-DVD players).

You may be better off just getting a new $400 HTIB set like a set from Onkyo or something if all you can really salvage from this current system is the speakers (which honestly might not be worth keeping).

Hi,

Well that explains the time I bought a receiver and none of my speakers worked on it, looks like I need to get everything from the ground up.

Thanks for your reply.

Well your speakers would probably work fine with a new receiver but the subwoofer hookup would be a problem.

I think you can get your speakers to work with the X-530 sub with this cable.

However, if you have $200-400 to spend on an upgrade, I'd recommend not spending money on the cables. If you want a 5.1+ system for that money, your best option is a HTIB. Shop Onkyo has pretty good deals on refurbed units. If you want something of better quality, you can buy a receiver separately, and temporarily use the speakers you have now until you have money for better speakers.

Shoponkyo.com currently has the HT-SR800 for $299 shipped (refurb with 2 yr warranty). If you sign up for club onkyo membership, which is free, you get 10 onkyo points ($10 off your purchase), making it $289 shipped.
