This has been asked many times. I think most people who have heard both will say the Promedias. I think the logitech sub gets louder (maybe not better), but the satellites for the Klipsch are better.

What's your budget? You could also get an entry level HTIB in this price range.

The sats are better for Klipsch in both the highs and the mids, and the bass is significantly tighter and has more extension.

Essentially, in computer speakers, Klipsch Ultras are the best for good bass, Creative Gigaworks are the best for highs and mids, and Logitech should only be bought if you need the extra connections.

You think the computer speakers are telling the truth?... any why would you buy on wattage? If you're going for overall loudness, you need to look at the efficiency of the speakers, not just the wattage. Also, the difference in volume between 50 watts and 100watts is minimal for speakers of the same efficiency.

If you're looking for loud, just hook up a couple DJ speakers to a powerful amp. If you want something that sounds good, wattage is not where to look (I'm not saying klipsch is bad, just saying that you're not going to look into HT options because the wattage ratings on the receivers is a bad reason not to look at them imo).

I do you know what you mean about the wattage being not correctly reported though.

ribbon13 has 7 pairs of Dayton BR-1s he likes a lot. He's powering them with a Denon 5805 along with a 15" Dayton Titanic III.

They're only $150 a pair shielded I think at partsexpress. Their specs are very impressive for the price and if you've built speakers before, they might be a good option for you. If you want more info, send a pm to ribbon13 about them. 3 sets with a $125 dayton 10" sub (or something nicer) would get you a very nice 6.1 set for the money (minus receiver of course).
