Probably not. You may have to update Intel software, but it should boot just fine so that you can do that. Once you decide to make the move, just make sure you get the latest driver software that applies to you before you do the swap.
Which? When I did this new install, I needed to go to my phone and download the latest LAN drivers for my mobo and the drivers for my gpu. Would anything else be needed (for the new hardware)?
Generally, it's good to install all drivers that are on the CD that came with your motherboard. You can look on the motherboard manufacturer's website for more current drivers if you like.

As of now, I still am not gaming, but if I run out of Netflix shows or my roommate suddenly can't hang out much anymore, I might invest in new hardware.
