Computer Temps

Just checked recently in Everest and was wondering what kind of temps I should be shooting for, heres what it said:

Motherboard 30 °C (86 °F)
CPU 42 °C (108 °F)
Aux 27 °C (81 °F)
GPU 31 °C (88 °F)
GPU Ambient 29 °C (84 °F)
Hitachi HDS722525VLAT80 28 °C (82 °F)

I know my CPU is a bit high and I'm getting a new Alpha HS/F soon, but how do the other temps look?

What are YOUR temps?

Hello

If your going to compare temps you need to take the temperature of the room that the computer is in. it makes a big difference...

And what proccesor and video card your running....

I can't tell.... BIOS of ASUS P4C-800 E Deluxe shows one set of temps, and SppedFan shows another set......lower than the ASUS...which do I believe?

That's for sure. My A64 3000+ Newcastle was running at 42 idle, 49 load (after I replaced a cheap Speeze HS with an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64) and the case temp was 26. That of course was over the winter here in Delaware, when the room temp was about 67F (19C). Now that the past few days have warmed up the room temp to 79F (26C) the CPU load temp has risen to 51 and the case temp has been 30-31. Still not bad, but certainly a material difference compared to the previous temps.

CPU is 42 C and 52 C under heavy load. 22C room temps. Are these safe temps? Does anyone know what type of temps and OC clocks I might expect from water cooling?

Room Temp: 70F
CPU High/Low: MBM reports 112F/96F - DMM probe agrees
North Bridge High/Low: MBM reports 96F/85F - DMM probe agrees
HD : DMM probe reads 88F (?)
Video Card High/Low: DMM probe shows 104F/93F
Unable to accurately read memory temp - plastic casing on Geil Golden Dragon

I suggest to anyone concerned with PC temps, manually check your temps with a probe. IR guns are cool, but flawed because you must expose the mobo thus changing airflow, and they don't offer pinpoint accuracy.

Example:
The vid card had reached 140F because the sound card was 2 slots away. Moving it gave me a 40F drop for free.

My personal fave DMM: Fluke 87V

hrm.. I have a AMD Athlon 64 3000+ on an ABIT AV8. CPU at idle is 39°C, and loaded is 60°C. Is this like bad for the CPU? like fry it in a couple of months? I tested it with the torture test on prime95, it ran for like 6 hours, i did not time to do more. Anyone know if these are safe temps?

With my cheap 120mm fan on a 12v line with 200ohms resistance I get:

room temp 23c
cpu - 37c
mobo - 28c
gpu - 43c
hdd - 37c

NEED a new 120mm or twin 92mm fans BADLY! I'm very dissapointed with my temps, I was hoping for 31-34c....

I'm running a water cooled rig, in a room with an ambient temp of 20*C

CPU is an Intel P4 3.2GHz (LGA775 prescott)
GPU is a Geforce 66000GT running @ 500Mhz
CPU, GPU and Northbridge are water cooled.

Temps were taken from "Motherboard Monitor 5"

Mobo = 32*C @ idle / 35*C @ full load
CPU = 23*C @ idle / 31*C @ full load
GPU = 32*C @ idle
HD = 30*C on average

I got:
System Temp: 30C : 38 Load
CPU Temp: 32C Idle : 44 Load
GPU Temp: 60C : 87 Load (very hot I think)

My GPU is quite high, and I cant figure out a way to get the darn thing to cool down. I even tried to take the cover off, and even then the GPU shows 60C. Any suggestions, or is the GPU Temp normal for this Vid Card?

It's not uncommon for 6800gt's and ultras to be in the 80's when loaded. You could try an aftermarket cooler. When I had one on my 6800 GT my load temps were 79-80.

Thankx for the reply. But I see that some of the guys that shown their own temp in this thread, they have a 6800GT and their Temps shows at 30-40C idle, and 50-60 Load, which is a big difference. Most of them seem to have BFG cards, and I have a EVGA, but I am not sure that could make a big difference. Maybe a small 5-10C difference betwen each Manufacturer, but 20C difference is quite high. While my games play VERY GOOD, I want to see if I can lower that number. It will be tough but gonna try to see what I can do.

Thank You...

I have a BFG and my idle temps are 40, load is 50, but that's with watercooling. On stock cooling I was 65/84, with the Arctic Cooling NV Silencer 5 I was 60/80. From my experience, it seems to be rather normal. I would bet that most other people with low temps on their 6800gt's are probably also watercooled. Plus, looking through this thread, I see some people just posting one number and not saying whether it is idle or load temp.
