hi all
a friends computer that was recently put togeather is really unstable, and applications quite often hang or freeze or just close... new power supply hasn't changed anything nor a new motherboard, so i am assuming it is a either the cpu (athlon Xp2000+) or the 512Mb ddr3200 ram.
memtest86 ran overnight with out a problem when booted from a floppy diskette, but is can't seem to read the amount of L2 cache and reports it as "unknown". motherboard is a MSI with a via KT600 chipset (can't remember the model number).
hard drive is a new seagate 80Gb with a clean install of winxp Sp1 with all the undates,, no adware or virus are present either that we can detect...
anything else i need to check please feel free to suggest oitherwise i am gonna replace the cpu and ram and see how we go.. *sigh*
thanks in advance for any help/ suggestions..
