Computer will not load windows.

Hello! System details :
x2 3800+
x1900xt
2GB DDR 400
EDIT: OCZ Powerstream 600W
I am currently getting the (DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) error.

Heres the problem, I turn my computer on. I get to the "Last known good configuration" screen I choose any option, my computer freezes with that screen showing.

Prior to trying my XP CD, I once got into windows. The computer loaded a few startup programs (I only know Powerstrip was loaded as I had a custom Colour display). My wallpaper and desktop icons weren't loaded. The computer would then immediately shut off. I immediately tried putting the computer on a few times and it would power up for about 3 seconds and then shut off. I shut off the power from the mains, waited and it was ok again.

I tried booting from my XP CD, it loaded up all the files and then got onto "Starting Windows" I would then get the error mentioned above. I tried a reboot. The monitor would not turn on.
I used another HDD and I'm still stuck with the same error (DRIVER_ etc).

I forgot to mention I've tried removing either memory stick and putting them in different slots.

its a driver problem, can you start in safe mode? If you can try reinstalling your video driver, sound driver is another likely cause.

Thanks for the response. But I am unable to enter any mode. It's strange how it started. I used it the night before (did not update any drivers/software), used it in the morning and got all this.

I'm unsure what you mean when you say you "used another hard drive". Never the less I have a suggestion that I think will work. Often times stuff like this is caused by a registry entry or file that is in someway fouled up. The fix is kind of extreme and you will need another computer that you can toss your hard drive into for a moment as a secondary drive.
Check out this procedure in microsofts Kb. I realize that the errors they describe is not what you are getting, but the procedure is the same:

They describe in part 2 grabbing some files from a folder labeled RPX (where x is a number) I usually try to grab the next to highest number that is available as this is the next to most recent version of your registry. The most recent version sometimes will not work.
The only part of that I would do differently is that I would not do Part 4. No real reason to if your system is booting and working fine.

I meant I took out my current HD, replaced it with another (new). And tried a fresh install of XP on to that.

try a different video card, sounds like a hardware problem if the clean install did the same thing.
