Computer won't boot up HELP!

Well, I was trying to install a new hard drive, however an error keeps popping up while the computer is posting. It says Floppy disk error (40), or something like that.

This is what I did. I uninstalled my old hard drive to install the new one I just got. I put the hard drive in, and turned the computer on. That's when the error started popping up. I tried putting my old hard drive back in, however, the error still comes up and I can't boot up windows. Any solutions? Thanks.

The first thing I would check for is that you did not accidently unplugged the floppy drive cable. Double check allthe ide and floppy cables make sure they are properly oriented.

Well I found the boot disk to startup windows. It actually says Floppy disk failed (40).

I checked the floppy cable, time and time again. But the error message continues to pop up.

I find it strange that I can use the a: drive to boot windows, but when I get to windows and I insert a disk, the drive doesn't read anything.

can you disable the floppy in your bios? you might want to try that if that fixes your problem something is up with your floppy, or your mobo, or both

Well I don't know how something could go wrong in a span of 5 secs. I had to unplug the floppy and hard drive, to take out the bay and install the new hard drive (I have an Antec 1080 case). When I plugged everything back in, it just stopped working.

Also, I need the floppy drive so I can boot into Dos mode so I can run fdisk and partition the new hard drive.

Dude, your floppy cable is hooked up backwards I believe.
