Computer won't boot

I have an Antec True380 PSU. It's not the problem though, because it doesn't even boot with a low power video card and the HD/DVD-RW not plugged in.

I doubt I can RMA the mobo, I bought it from NewEgg last summer... I wanted a new one anyway, I have an A8V-Deluxe (revision 1) and I don't like it for OCing.

hmm so are you going to buy a new one then? Hopefully its not yoru cpu as well. Just a warning about your Antec true power supply, there are soem issues with abit, asus, and msi with antec trueseries with thier older models.

I had the exact thing happen to me about a week ago. no post. I think I saw a strange icon on my desktop as i was shutting down for the last time it ran. I am pretty sure it is a virus. Did you get yours running yet? I am going to look into the Bozo thing I see above. I have tried all the other stuff. I will let you know what i find if I am successful.

i'm surprised noone has asked this yet...any post beeps? if no pc speaker is connected, hook one up...that may give you some help..based on what you have already done i'm gonna say its your motherboard..take the mobo and cpu to a local pc shop and have them test them

I don't think its a virus. Check the boot sequence.

Just take it to one of those little computer shops where they overcharge you for service and tell them you don't know what's wrong, but you'll pay as much money as it takes to get rid of this problem. If they attempt to explain any warranties with you concerning service or parts, just waive your hand and tell them you don't bother with that garbage.

Take out your HD. Take out everything except Mobo/CPU/Memory/Video Card. If this still does not post, then obviously your motherboard is shot. RMA it to Asus, its a painless process. (3 year warranty)

Before RMAing, try another PSU just for kicks.

Try booting with Knoppix Linux. It doesn't write anything to your HDD and loads and boots in RAM. If Knoppix refuses to start, it's your motherboard or CPU.
If you can't get your hands on Knoppix, try booting with your WinXP CD and see if you can get the installer to work.
