My brother-in-law last night bought a can of compressed air duster to dust the inside of his PC without first shooting off the first burst with condensate into the air.

Computer won't boot after dusting and he dropped it off at my house this morning to see what I can do.

Without any changes to it, I'm assuming between the CPU or mobo for it not to post b/c shorted from dusting condensate???

He mentioned the first burst with condensate landed on the motherboard near the slot1 celeron.

I checked the area and there are mosfets/capacitors located but they all look nice and dry.

I'm gonna try and find a celeron in my basement to rule out cpu tonight.

I've accidently done this a few times as well, but have not had any problems. Once the board is fully dried, make sure everything is plugged in correctly and try again. If it still won't boot, try a new CPU if one is available. Slot 1 Pentiums are super cheap at the moment.

Yea, that was my first thought.

Condensate from those pc dusters should dry up in a second with no static damage.

That's what they're made for anyways.

Try pulling out and reseating all your power plugs and cables etc.

Yup, reseating everything and checking all connections is always the place to start after being inside the case and having problems. Now, if he dusted while the system was plugged in and/or tried to power-up immediately afterwards while condensation was present then all bets are off.

Got it working by uninstalling all devices, let it air dry overnight, then reinstalling everything.
