computer won't post

kk, so was watching a movie on my computer. had to go to class so i left the movie player on pause and left. come back and the computer if froozen (won't come out of the screen saver). reset and computer won't start.

computer won't even post. i get absolutly no output.

Hard drive spins up (i can feel the vibrations and hear it start) but the HDD LED activity won't light up at all.

tried different HDD (tried both SATA and PATA drives), still nothing.

tried different ram, still nothing.

power supply seems to still work properly, fans, mobo LED's light up, power supply's LED lights up, CD and HDD's spin up.

i don't have a spare cpu or mobo.

for some reason my speaker won't beep and error sounds. =/

Mobo: DFI Lanparty UT nF3 250g
CPU: AMD 64 1.8ghz
RAM: Cosriar Value DDR 400mhz
Vid: Gigabite X800

any ideas?

did you try taking the video card out?

Start with nothing but the cpu. if you still do not post, it is either one of those. if it posts from there, put each component back until you see what the problem is.

Since the PSU seems to be ok and the fans spin, i would bet on the motherboard. I usually get error beeps from RAM and graphics.

ya, i tried a different power supply, no change.

changed out the video card, no change.

pulled the ram out and booted it up, still aboslutly nothing.

EDIT: oh, also tried resetting the bios, no change.

Well, if it is not the PSU, the RAM, the Graphics card or the HHDs... I would guess that it is the motherboard.

See if you can find someone to test the CPU for you, but I would still guess the motherboard. I could be wrong though.
