My HTPC blue screens when loading Windows (halfway through the startup animation) unless I turn it off and move the ram into a different slot (mobo has 4 slots and it doesnt seem to matter which slot its in as long as its been moved). The ram was at stock settings but I've tried changing the voltage with no change. I also tried reinstalling the OS (XP Pro, Vista 32+64, 7 RC7100 32+64) but it blue screens while the installation program is loading. Safe mode also doesn't load. I've tried different sticks of ram of differing size (1-4gb) and speed (533-1066) with no change.
Its really really annoying to have to move the RAM around every time I need to reboot so if someone can help or have any suggestions I would REALLY REALLY appreciate it. Money is tight and I am hoping nothing needs to be replaced.
Specs (all non-essential components have been removed already with no change):
AMD 2300BE
Abit AN-M2 Mobo
4gb Crucial Value DDR2 800 (tried several other brands/speeds/sizes as well)
1.5TB Seagate HDD (tried using 1TB Samsung and Seagate as well)
Antec 430w PSU (came with Antec Veris Fusion 2.0 HTPC case)
