all of a sudden yesterday my computer acted like it went into hibernation mode, except i have had hibernation mode turned off for several years now. anyway i go to try and turn on my comp and all the lights inside my case come but nothing comes up on my screen and it just sits there in that state indefinitely. my computer specs are
amd x2 4400+
2 gigs ram
x1900xt
sound blaster live! 24 bit
80 gig HDD
250 gig HDD
dfi lanparty nf4 UT ultra D
ocz modstream 520w
Now the weird thing is that on the motherboard all the LEDs light up
http://img230.imageshack.us/im...29/lputnf4slid1ix1.jpg
1) these LEDs according to my manual indicate that (in order) the system started up, the cpu was detected, the ram was detected, and then the video card was detected, but the system isnt booting up.
2)the manual says this LED is for "Standby Power LED"
3) this LED says "ram power LED"
i also know for a fact that the video card isnt an issue because i swapped in a old x800 that i know is fine and the computer didnt boot up. i dont claim to know much about computers but my guess is that my power supply suddenly stopped working at what it should be. any help would be greatly appreciated as i kinda need to get my computer up and running so i can do my homework and theres like 2 weeks left of class this semester thanks!

Unplug power from everything but the motherboard and vid card (if it needs it). Then try to boot and see what happens. If it still doesn't boot, I'd try another power supply. If it does boot - you've got some sort of electrical issue with one of your components. Add power back one by one to see when it stops booting again to determine a possible problem. If it does happen that way, plug in only the problem device and see if it boots. If it boots with only that device hooked up, still likely the PSU. If it doesn't, you've likely got a problem with that device.

Slave, you have one of four things wrong with your computer: a memory stick went bad on you, your motherboard has failed, your soundcard/one of your drives has gone to ground, or your power supply has failed. Here's how you find out which you need to replace. Remove your video card and both sticks of RAM, then plug the computer back in, and hit the power button. If it gives you either the "no video card" beep, or the "no RAM" beep, then there's a very good chance that the motherboard's okay. If it doesn't give you some error beep codes, your motherboard has failed.

If it does give you error codes, reinstall your video card and unplug both of your hard drives and your optical drive (and remove your soundcard) then try one stick of your RAM at a time, in the orange slot that's farthest from the CPU. If it boots with either, replace the one that's removed, and see if it still will post. If it posts with both sticks, it means that one of your drives, or your soundcard, has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Start adding them back in, one at a time, until the problem reappears. And if you get this far without a post/boot, then you know you need a new power supply.

This is my guess:

I had the same mobo you did years ago when it was THE board to have....

That mobo is also notorious for cold boot isuues out of nowhere. In other words, everything could be running fine for weeks, months, and then you push the power button oneday, and you get exactly what you are going through now....

My board did it back then, other DFI owners experienced the same thing...

The solution? You have to remove the CMOS battery, move the clear CMOS jumper, and leave it this way overnight....

That was pretty much what fixed it whenever it happened.

Search for the cold boot issue....
