Is the power plugged in? The switch in the back of the PSU turned on?
Is the power swith on the case plugged into the mobo right? Also, why not try using a screwdriver to short the power pins and see if it starts to make sure its not the case.

Make sure you didn't accedently pull one of the switch wires off of the motherboard pins. Check to make sure all of your wires are seated/connected correctly. Make sure the switch on the back of the PS is set to "on".

Sometimes its the small things.

the power is pluged in , the motherboard itself has buttons to turn on and reset the comps, and those not working as well
this ideas of urs
screwdriver to short the power pins and see if it starts to make sure its not the case.

can i do that while everything else on the comps is turn on?? BTW, how do i do that? im a newb

I only said to use the screwdriver to elminate the case as the problem. There are two pins on the motherboard that control the power right? Just use a screwdriver and short the two pins, it mimics the power button, since thats how it works. (I only said that since the case might be broken). Look for little stuff, is everything plugged in right? Also try reseating EVERYTHING, something may have come loose when you put in your new sound card. Why not try removing the new x-fi and seeing if it starts then? Try a different PCI slot?

yes i tried that i completely removed the sound card and my SAta pci card and checked the PSU going to the motherboard pins they tight and i think is that the PS died, I did notice that when i bought the PSU it ran very hot

Did you ground yourself before you installed the x-fi?

You do this by touching a metal part of your case to remove static electricity, these days components are pretty robust where static is concerned but it's a possibility.

I would be more inclined to think that there is a loose cable or something easy like that causing the problem.

It may be your PSU, if you have another around you can test with that.

Have a spare psu? If you do test it out, otherwise go buy a $20 crap psu to see if it will work...
