Computer worked last night, won't this morning

First, here's what I got.
Asus P4P800 Deluxe
2.8 P4 800 with hyperthreading
x256 corsair xms ram
60 western digital sata hard drive
ite on combo drive
ony floppy drive


Last night I put together my first computer. After getting everything in there, I held my breath and pushed the power button, and to my surprise it started right up. I didn't do anything with BIOS, I just installed XP and everything seamed to be working fine. It was running for 2 hours and then I shut it down for the night.

I went to turn it on this morning, and nothing happens. The green light on the motherboard is on, if that makes a difference.

Does anybody have any idea what could have happened? Why won't it turn on again after having worked last night?

I forgot to put this in. I also made 3 partitions in my hard drive. Drive C is 15GB, Drive D is 10GB, and the rest is on E. I put my windows swap file on the D drive. I don't know if any of that would effect why the computer won't even power up, but thought I should add it anyways.

Hey, welcome to AT

Try clearing your CMOS using the board, then try again. Check your connections too. And flip the PSU Switch over, leaving it like that for 15 minutes before trying again.

First 2 things I would do is:

1. Reset/clear/short via jumper the bios. Try to reboot

2. Swap out your Power Supply with a known working one.

I don't know what P/S you have but I can say the new M/B'S seem to demand more stable P/S"s
