As I said, search engines favor upload date and trending, so anyone (Average Joe) looking for a performance review of a game will stumble upon many reviews that were created after launch.
I think you're helping to prove my point that making a big deal about it is too reactionary. These results always need to be qualified with the idea that they are subject to change. The launch of every product, be it hardware or software, is tumultuous. Like I said in my original post, if one of my less tech-savvy friends asked me about it, that's what I would tell him.

The first one didn't release for just Forza 7, it was for 9 other games.

It has according to your flawed logic, AMD should just delay releasing drivers that gradually improve gaming performance until a final driver is ready that comes with all the improvements in one go!

Yeah yeah I am sure you did:

First AMD doesn't have a "game ready" equivalent. Trying to reverse the argument to them isn't applicable. Second, I can't remember a game where AMD released two drivers in quick succession for a game launch. One of which boosted perf 15-25%. AMD still releases drivers post game launch and it's because they seem to not release a driver until it can hit the performance they know they can achieve. It's not like Nvidia doesn't know where the perf of their cards should sit relative to AMD. So much applied logic on your part.....

Game ready driver basically means that the game will work. It doesn't mean that they are done optimising it.

Doesn't crash is a pretty low bar. Isn't that more of an expectation? Hey that's marketing though. I never said that game ready meant stop optimizing. It's the perf jump and the timing to the drivers that I find amusing.

Glad AMD can hit the "low bar" of having games work with their cards. It's not like a giant AAA title keeps crashing and is causing their user base a lot of distress.

And I don't even mean this as a ding towards AMD. Just how asinine it is for a poster to be upset NV put out two drivers versus one.

EDIT:

Actually:

Doom 2016 comes to mind. Two drivers over the weekend.

I said that "will work". That should be the highest priority. After that they can optimise. There are situations where they may not have enough time to include all the optimisations right off the bat. I don't see what's so amusing. It's not like these thing happen only for NVIDIA...

Maybe the issue in Overwatch isn't the driver. It's a fairly prevalent issues and they still haven't added it to the known issues. It's possible something that the dev changed something and thus need to fix. Also. did AMD release a driver specifically for Overwatch when it broke? If not then it wouldn't apply to this situation.

Also, one specific card improved isn't an analog to all cards improved.

I already covered all of this. Please read and comprehend.

WRONG, they just released a driver yesterday for Shadow of War and The Evil Within 2. They also released a lot of drivers for other games since Vega launched.

AMD doesn't have a marketing program eg "Game Ready" around driver releases. Reading comprehension.

Edit:clarification, grammar

So? Just because they don't call it "Game Ready," doesn't mean it doesn't serve the same function. To achieve maximum stability, IHVs typically have to coordinate the release of new drivers with games, since games tend to use shoddy programming; or so I've heard.

Ah, semantics. The last defense of the pathologically incorrect.

Interesting how in almost all videos, AMD deliver superior image quality, colours.. AA..

Watching the second video on my Note 4 at max res, I cannot tell the difference. Vega 64 performance is incredibly competitive with 1080 ti however!

Using an OC'ed Liquid Vege vs stock NVIDIA cards, and using different systems for comparison. This is not a valid comparison.

You may need glasses then, it's night and day..

But then i watched this and there is a big difference in quality here too so i'm unsure of what the uploader is doing achieve such drastically different quality ?

Not to mention he is using old footage with 6 months old drivers for NVIDIA, using different system, CPU is slightly OC'ed, RAM speed is far higher, and Windows versions are not the same as well. Even game versions are not the same because of the use of old footage. His GPU is undervolted and overclocked as well. This is a terribly invalid comparison.

I thought you referred to the second video.

drivers usually give gains in the region of 5-15% during a generation..
Because products (GPUs in this case) are usually shipped feature complete.
Vega is not the case, it misses at least two crucial uArch features that requires software enablement.

That is if those feature actually work in hardware... we don't know.
But yes it's a more like a new gpu if they are enabled.

Go to the 2:06-2:10 mark. Yes there is a difference, but in all likelihood its similar to the same issue involving another scene discussed here in Prey a few months ago, which had to do with lighting and shifting sun/timings. It can look the same as the vega one at different game times. You can even see a hint of that towards the 2:11 mark (vs at 2:06).

Basically all this is desperate fishing for the slightest of hints that AMD has superior IQ to Nvidia, but this conspiracy falls flat in vast majority of games and only in isolated cases we may see one brand differing from the other usually due to game lighting/timing and/or a driver bug/issue that is usually rectified with driver updates. Again, put in perspective, this is rare. What is not rare is the eagerness of some to jump on it milk it for whatever its worth.
