I think I misread you original post. When you wrote "TPU didn't do the Lightning review as [H] did iirc", I thought you meant that TPU hadn't reviewed the Lightning unlike [H], but I can see now that you meant that whilst TPU had reviewed the Lighting, they didn't do it in the same way that [H] did.

That's why I said quality if [H] tested more games all of these sites would become irrelevant.

No it didn't. People here seems to have pretty bad memory, a max oced lightning 680 was the faster card, the [H] review is there for you.

This paragraph is not directed to you but rather the thread in general

Now wait a second, I happened to to have a card which was faster than the sample [H] had and when I look at the data, I see that OC 7970 winning in 3 out of 4 tests at the resolution which I have had since 2007: 1600p

That's why I remember 7970 being quite bit faster.

But lets stop reminiscing here.

Did you actually read the review I linked?

You don't need a good memory to remember the wars fondly when they are still happening in March 2016, apparently.

lo, nice point. Digging thru my links I found some good ones.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1403128/...-680-770-780-titan-all-oced/370#post_20263455

Going thru those links sugar posted, slap them into compare and you get a 1633mhz 770 vs a 1375mhz 7970. The interesting thing is that this is an end user on water vs Team China.

It's one review of one extreme model that was only available for a short time. It doesn't prove overall that the 680 was faster than the 7970 when both were O/C'd.

It's always silicon lottery for the most part. However, this last round the numbers for OCing appear to be in NV favor. The heavy compute component really weighs down Tahiti IMO. NV read the market correctly for that time period and made a truly current gen gaming only card that sold very well compared to the competition.

For those claiming that Ashes of the Singularity is still in BETA so the results don't count..

For those claiming Hitman won't release with DX12..

Carry on.

@guskline
Looks zero difference, even slightly slower.

NV loves to shout "Game Ready" on all their drivers (latest for The Division, Hitman, Ashes etc), but... no difference. Interesting.

What kind of dev defends good hardware performance on 30% of market and bad hardware performance on 70% of market, instead of defending his project?

Also, it may be out of context, but its replying to something that never mentioned anything of performance, and he jumped right at that.

Because several posters were using the same argument I've seen many users here use... That the game is in BETA so the results don't matter.

He hit back at that accusation by stating that the game is done engine wise. The campaign mode will be added and then the game launches.

Both NVIDIA and AMD are done supplying optimization suggestions.

Any additional performance will come from drivers (if NVIDIA release that Async compute + graphics driver they've been promising for 7 months now).

So, at what % of user base does it become the Devs responsibility to improve your performance relative to your comp?

Ashes does not have bad performance for NV, that's actually better than what we've seen in new 2016 games like Far Cry Primal, Hitman and The Division (which is actually NV sponsored) comparing the gap between 390 vs 970. Heck, Fury X in Ashes is only a bit faster than 980Ti. Not bad at all for NV.

The things about "BETA" is because several things:

1) its used as a shield, no matter what a dev say, things may change any day because, well its "beta", that what they will tell you afterwards, im not going to put my hands on the fire for a dev, and neither should you.
Yes they could end it any day, and no one knows what implies so? thats not the point, the point is that nothing is final in a beta, nothing, and thats because, like kollock said, its just a term, placed and lifted by developers at any state of the game.

2) The results on a unreleased game does not actually matters, they need to release it so we all could play the full game.

The rest is just philosophical, its likely that AMD paid them to demo and introduce Mantle and Async Compute tech, whats the problem with that? its looks OK to me, what is not OK is what some people, is doing with it.

100% of market, devs create a game for the entire market, considering AMD GCN + W10 users is a very low market considering 2016 Feb results, you just cant go and defend that. Its not what a dev that wants to a sell a game to everyone whould do.

Really Mahigan? You are hyping a turd low budget episode game just because it has DX12?

Seriously this game on DX11 cannot maintain 60fps on Fury X or GTX 980 Ti on 1080p. You are just making look AMD bad by promoting this game.

I know Nvidia is not good at AC then how will you tell 70% of DGPU user to buy this turd game which is not even giving 60fps on ultra end cards?

Oh,

That's rich. So devs shouldn't include Gameworks and PhysX effects that can't run on AMD GPUs?

We have a quotable quantity. 100% of market.

Am I to assume that when Nvidia leads in a game from now, you will say that the developer is baised towards Nvidia and unfair?

So you think it's the devs fault AMD is faster? OK! Whatever?
