The is a PCI (not PCIe) FX 5200 for $60.

Not really cheap but the PCI parts are hard to get. For your qual-or sextant head lovers.

This Memorex-branded min (8cm) CD-R/CD-RW/MP3 player for $21 looks kind of neat. It *only* plays the mini-sized CD-R/RWs, but that makes the player smaller as well. I think those discs hold ~230MB/ea, and if MP3 offers 5-10X compression rations for music, that means that one of those mini-CDs should hold as much music in MP3 format as approx two whole CDs in regular format, or more with more compression.

Hopefully this model is better then the older Memorex CDRW MP3 player I had. The buttons didn't work half the time : \

I am opposed to shopping at computergeeks because of an RMA fiasco I recently had with them. You pay for the low prices in terrible service.

On the other hand, I do have some RMA in-store credit if anyone is unfazed by my warnings. Please see my FS thread or PM me.

I have been buying from compgeeks for years and have never had any problems with them. On the same token I have never had to return anything back to them either. I usually only buy cables or a case now and then from them. I have also bought outdated stuff from them also. I needed a slot A MB a couple of years ago and geeks is the only place I could find one. Got a firewire card from them a while back for $10 that came with a cable.

Sorry you had bad luck but I will continue to buy from them. I probobly only order from them once or twice a year. I don't buy MB, CPU and other mainline stuff from the geeks. Newegg is usually cheaper anyhow not to mention great CS.

Stay away from computergeeks, folks. Trust me. I've never bought from them for a reason. If you take a look at their site, you can clearly see that all of the stuff is leftover junk some other site couldn't sell. And it looks cheap too.

I am a long time geeks shopper, gotta be like 5 years, and have never had a problem. They used to just have older stuff, but they are pretty current now. But, if you are shopping for something and can't tell older from newer technology, maybe internet shopping isn't for you!

That said... nothing from this sale really jumped out at me as a great deal.

I disagree. I've bought a number of things from them and I've always been happy. You get exactly what they say you do.
One thing I've been 100% satisfied with is my purchase of 1000' of cat 5e network cable with crimper, 100 ends, connectivity tester, etc all for about $50. A thousand feet of cable and everything nessasary to make it for $50, you can't beat that. I use the cable in my house, I make cables for friends, I've even sold a few to other people. Just a tad bit better than the 1200% markup on belkin cables compusa does to you

120mm LED fans

These are a complete treasure. They're made by Yate Loon, the company that makes fans for Nexus. They're the smoothest sounding fans I've ever used. I own 2 of the LED's and 2 of the D12SL-12 which are the exact same model as the Nexus 120mm. For $7 it sure beats the $25 Nexus charges.

At 5v you have to be less than 6 inches away to hear it if you get a good sample.

I had bad RMA experience with Computergeeks also.

I've made purchases from them before this and all went well. Then I bought this black wireless keyboard/mouse combo from them but they ship me a cheaper beige set. Called them and arranged for exchange. Nothing arrives for a week, then I call again and was told the new black set is on its way. Waited another week for nothing, called again and this time they told me they are out of the black sets. Worst thing is they would only give me in-house credit by now and also I had to pay for shipping both ways. Never purchase anything else from them since.

Conclusion, they have good prices sometimes but just hope your order goes well and you never have to deal with their RMA.

Hmm, just got my box from compgeeks an hour ago, everything that I ordered is here, everything looks fine to me, mobo is new retail box, floppy was bulk/OEM, but packed in a seperate foam-padded box inside the shipping box. The only thing dodgy was the OEM Compaq P4 heatsink that I ordered for $3.79, it was just wrapped in bubble-wrap and put in the shipping box, no tape, so the plastic cover over the pre-applied theral compound came off and the compound got on the ubble-wrap, and one of the metal retaining clips was a tiny, tiny bit bent, but was easily straigtened. The OEM heatsink's fan power cable was a bit short though, too short. Thankfully I found a 3-pin fan extension cable in my junk-box.

Then again, most of the complaints against them in the past have been about their RMA service; this is my first-ever order from them, and I've never had to RMA anything.

I give them credit for quick response to feedback, though, as after I placed the order, I noitced that they showed SATA cables bundled with the mobo in the picture, and I knew that SATA wasn't natively supported on this board, nor does the board mfg's page show anything about an add-on SATA chipset. I notified them of that via their web-page feedback form, and by the very next day, the picture had been updated without the misleading cable included. That's pretty good if you ask me.

Like any surplus computer parts dealer, you need to read the fine print in the description and know what you're buying.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with computergeeks.com. Another reason not to shop there. Thanks for the heads up, VirtualLarry.

That funny.. I didn't think the experience was so bad, I considered it positive on the whole. Perhaps if I ever have to deal with their RMA dept. thing might change, I dunno. Sorry if you've been wronged by them in the past; sounds like you might have.
