Excuse my ignorance but WTH is a 4-way system?

It's a computer with four processors. In the case of the Hammer, it increases overall system bandwidth and computing power. It's used for servers that require more horsepower than a 2-way SMP rig can provide. Four way SMP would probably be considered the first tier of what's called "high density SMP servers" with the very high end being 16-way+ servers.

I noticed the same thing. Will we see Clawhammer boards with more slots? I'm planning to get 1 gig of RAM for my next computer, but 512meg DIMMs are still a bit expensive. I would rather buy 4x256MB DIMMs.

The one that looks like upside-down PCI-slot? To my knowledge, that CMR-slot (Communication Modem Riseror something like that).

Well, I checked around... And CMR-slots are smaller. So what is that slot? I have no idea...

possibly a special slot made for riser cards? who knows? Anand where are you

I'd venture to say that's an ACR - Advanced Communications Riser. Similarly as useless as CNR and AMR slots, but better in that it fools people who don't look closely into thinking they're getting another PCI slot.

I think AMR devices work in it, though I've never met anyone with an AMR device so who will ever try it out? Thought they were supposed to be blue though, but then that'd defeat the deception I tongue in cheek implied above.
