Past performance from them. They have the most sought after Athlon MP board, and I've heard lots of people talking about this board.

Using a non-stock HSF will void your warranty. If you're dropping $700+ on processors, that's a big deal.

The stock should be good enough if you're going to use it under normal conditions.

The stock coolers are designed to work well. They have to if AMD is going to warranty them for so long.

Why do you need a Radeon 9800 Pro?
I'd go with 15K SCSI drives, they'll be faster than those Raptors. I'd also get a larger, less... colorful... case. Also, that system is going to drain power. I would *not* pick anything other than a PC Power and Cooling PSU. They're more expensive, but worth it.

Also, I'd go with 2x1GB DIMMs incase you do need to upgrade to more memory.

search ebay for a used dual processor g4(with no upgrades) THEN look for whatever ram you need and a radeon 9600 etc etc

then buy pro logic six (http://www.apple.com/pro/), a midi break out box, whatever else you might want to make music with and be sure to get the latest mac os x plus updates

UNLESS you know what your doing and have software you already use and dun wanna learn something new or dun wanna switch or for whatever reason you HAVE to make a music on a pc, go for it.

wahsapa, i pretty much have all the software i need on the pc. im used a dual g4, it gets under heavyload quick. yeah, it would suck not having logic six, but ive been using steinberg cubase sx for years.
